Problem is she has a preference for flowers. Go back to my ice cream analogy. Isn't part of the goodness in any relationship getting your SO something they enjoy? That said, this is about way more than flowers. The OP is misinterpreting his largess coupled with intense jealousy as caring when it's manipulation. If he wants to buy her an apartment, it's because he wants to keep her, albeit in a gilded cage but she will be kept like a zoo animal or prized possession nonetheless.

A man buying flowers, or doing anything for that matter, should come from within his heart, not because his girlfriend asked him to. The other side of that is that if you want something, ask, our partners are not mind readers. So if a woman wants flowers, okay to express that and if her boyfriend loves her, he then feel inspired to buy them for her, knowing how much she loves them.
