My friend wrote this  on her Twitter page that said Always in between wanting to post a lot on social media & wanting to delete all socials & be like that person you went to school with that you think of randomly & hope they’re doing well. Do you think she wants to be like someone who doesn’t have any social media or no?

I have no idea what your friend wants, but I have no social media whatsoever.  I don't need it, nor do I want it.  I have no desire to compare myself to other people.

The individuals that I wish to stay in touch with have my phone number and email address.  Prior to the pandemic, the individuals I call "friends" come over to my home for dinner or to watch a football game or whatever.

The people who I know would like pictures of me or my adventures are close family and I'll have those snapshots printed by a service and will mail copies to them.

My girlfriend has a facebook account and becomes quite agitated each time she goes to it.  She'll log off and immediate complain that this friend has this or that friend did that, etc.   I ask her why she tortures herself.  I've repeatedly told her that it seems people just want to brag about what they have or what they've done.  I really don't understand why she continues to visit the page, as it only seems to cause angst.

Perhaps your friend wants to avoid that same angst that my girlfriend experiences.

If she wanted to be without social media, she would be.   At most she’s annoyed with social media or thinking about someone who she got out of touch with

Her tweet was clear:  She enjoys social media but sometimes entertains the idea of of not using it at all.    She's just having a random thought.

If you're connected to her via social media, ask her. You're both on social media so ask her what she means by it
