d0nnivain Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 DH & I will be seeing my college roommate & her husband for Valentine's day. We have assessed the Covid risks & are OK with them. Her love language is gift giving. I know she will have a little something for us. She always does. I could easily get her something. Getting them something is proving tougher. I don't want to spend a lot of money, $35 would be ideal, and I'd prefer not to get consumables: chocolate, wine etc. It's not about the cost. It's about the thoughtfulness. Any ideas?
introverted1 Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Let's Roam sells outdoor scavenger hunt packages that are fun. Many cities have multiple hunts available and it's a covid-friendly activity (you do it on your own, not with a group) They also offer virtual hunts and activities. The 2-player package is $40. 2
Happy Lemming Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Kitchen or cooking utensils?? Nice carving knife?? Panini maker?? Waffle Iron?? Insta Pot (although are a little out of your price range)?? 1
Alpacalia Posted January 31, 2021 Posted January 31, 2021 Hmm. How about something engraved with their names like a ring dish, wood carving board, or tapestry blanket/quilt? Maybe an online cooking class they can take together? 1

Miss Spider Posted February 1, 2021 Posted February 1, 2021 (edited) I feel like something related to food is the right answer 90% of the time. Edited February 1, 2021 by Shortskirtslonglashes 3
Author d0nnivain Posted February 1, 2021 Author Posted February 1, 2021 She has every kitchen gadget known to man. I will look into the scavenger hunt thing. Thanks. After I posted I started "shopping". I'm thinking about a whiskey warming set.
Blind-Sided Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 (edited) Well..... Since you don't want to do the "Token" food item... and since kitchen items are out... it does make it a little hard to suggest something, since we don't know this couple. But... just like anything else... how about something related to a hobby they have? So... for example... I'm a game collector. Anything that would be retro would be welcome into my collection. So, on that note... do they kayak or bike... or hike? Something like a Camel Back, or item related to their sport. Do they like movies? Maybe get a big plastic popcorn bucket, and put a movie, some candy, and popcorn in it. Avoid gift cards... even if it's related to something they do. I just feel like it's less personal. Basically... think of what hobby they have, and get something for that. Edited February 3, 2021 by Blind-Sided 1
Wiseman2 Posted February 3, 2021 Posted February 3, 2021 Pick up the tab for dinner. Or just bring a usual guest type gift like flowers a plant etc. 1

I guess if you didn't know what they liked it might not be such a good gift. Maybe, we need a thread about Valentine's Day gifts for someone you are really into, dating, etc........ 1
