I wouldn't say it was love at first sight for me, but I was definitely taken with him immediately after meeting him. We've been dating for about a year and a half now, and he's still the only man in the world with whom I haven't gotten bored or wanted to break up after dating for so long.

I think I've been in a similar situation where I believed it was love at first sight. I thought he was the one for me even though I knew the chances of ever meeting him again were close to zero since he didn't even live in the same country as me. Well, two years later, by some crazy twist of fate, we did meet again, and once again, I was convinced it was love at first site. I guess you never know until you go for it...

Love is an emotion that's built up when you know someone, love at first sight is impossible, but often when you have strong feelings for someone it can seem like you always did.. Lust at first sight is entirely possible...

Around 25+/- years ago I was working as a survey taker in the mall (great job to have while going to school btw) and one of the guys I interviewed about a product was adorable. I flirted during the interview and so did he. He asked me out for coffee after work, we sat in a Denny's for hours (until they closed and kicked us out) and then said good-bye at my car. I knew he would call me again -- never had any doubt. When I got home (I was sharing an apartment with my mom at the time) mom asked me how the date went and I promptly replied "If I ever get married - he's the one."

Two years later we got married and have been married since. Sometimes you just know.

It only happened once, and I shall never forget it. Her shape, her smile, the sparkle in her eyes, her voice... I was immediately smitten.

We married 4 years later.

We split 4 years after that, and were divorced the following year.

That was in 1991, and we're still in touch.

A lot of 'love at first sight' stories end up like Slub's. Others end up like Hoke's. Still others never make it to marriage. I believe that the 'love at first sight' stories that end up in long marriages do so not because it truly was love but rather that it was the same initial attraction others feel but that you happened to feel it for someone with whom you are also perfectly compatible.

In the cases where 'LAFS' failed, it's because it was indeed infatuation. And you can't tell until sufficient time has passed if the person you felt it for is really meant to be your partner.

In sum, I don't trust it at all.
