Like sheets on a bed, wearing socks is a hygiene thing. You sweat it goes in the wash. They are not tossing the shoes in the wash after each wear....so I get it.

I've read today an article "how do you know if you're dating a woman or a girl". She's a girl. You need a woman and you need to keep your socks. Wear what you like and what reflects you and do not copy.
I would have noticed the style but wouldn't give it a second thought. There are many different styles out there and as long as someone reasonably well looks after themselves and is clean - thumbs up.
She's so inappropriate and inconsiderate. You, on the other hand, took a side comment of someone who sounds a bit like a princess to heart. (I might be presumptuous here but) that seems to be a bigger problem in your life than what socks to wear.

It was rude of her but I'm still interested in dating her. She is quite pretty. Certainly she isn't long term material. But I'm positive I can have some fun, with or without socks

Fair enough.

For next time, simply label your socks, eg red for actual men socks, blue for no show 'fashion' socks (colours are suggestions only obviously - you can decide on that yourself). People like labels a lot, I'm told.

Good compromise, right?

Have you tried the statement sock trend? That may work better.

I donated all 3 pairs (one used, 2 new) to the Salvation Army drop box. Whenever I see a guy without visible socks, it crosses my mind that he may have stinky feet sweating away in his shoes. It's a fair guess to assume women would think the same of my feet. I'm keeping to full sock look.

There are three kinds of people in this world — sock people, no sock people, and people who don’t care. Personally, I am no sock camp. I hate socks and find people that like them to be strange. I hate that I am forced to wear smelly feet condoms that suffocate my toes. I reluctantly still do, but it’s the definition of oppression.
Men that like socks get friend zoned. If they ever wear them with sandals or while they’re having sex, we’re not even friends.

Am I the only one whose feet don't sweat? It can be 105 degrees out, and I'm in sneakers. My feet stay reasonably dry.

The only time I wear socks is when it's cold out or when I'm wearing this one pair of boots that are super uncomfortable on my heels, so I need a buffer.
