At the time you purchased the G5 you didn't have that job, so you didn't have the expectation of having to drive around in the snow all day. 

Personally, I like the G5... I had a Pontiac Sunfire for a while, I liked the car and it was easy to work on.  I've owned a few GM vehicles and had good luck with them. 

My old 1998 work truck is a GM product, its been beat to death fixing up houses and still runs great, no complaints.
