Ok, here's the quick rundown. We were married for 8 years, separated almost 2 years ago. She got a new man 2 weeks after leaving, got pregnant and had a child with this guy. They are engaged to be married after the divorce is final.

Ok, now here's the situation. I talked on the phone earlier today with our son and afterwards he handed the phone to his mother. She said something totally off the wall (at least it wasn't anything I ever expected to hear). She said to me "When you remarry and have children, please don't rub it in my face."

What the f---?

I mean it didn't even cause an emotional response because I can't even grasp what she means.

Any ideas?

hmmm....That is odd.

In case you don't know this- my guess is that she hooked up with/had feelings with this guy BEFORE you guys separated.

I really don't know why she said it, but I can almost guarentee that she didn't say it because she still has feelings for you...sorry.

My guesses are:

1. she had a bad day with her man

2. she is concerned that you will meet someone better than her (you love this other girl more, she is better looking, etc.). She doesn't want to feel like she did you a favor by leaving.

Yeah, that seems likely. Maybe she said it for the benefit of whoever was in the room with her, or some "inside" comment you just happened to get hit with.

Thanks for the replies. I pretty much knew it wasn't because of any feelings of affection from her. She sounded really calm and has obviously explored her feelings about me remarrying and is fine with it. I just found it to be a bit of an oddity and unlike her.

A couple months ago she also broke down and started crying and said that she didn't want me thinking that she never loved me (because of some things that her boyfriend said to me about what he thought of our marriage). I took it as guilt for how the marriage has ended. I realize she probably bad-mouthed me to her boyfriend so that he would feel secure in knowing that she was done with me.

Thanks guys.

Hmm, yeah maybe she's been thinking back about how things went and starting to feel guilty. Maybe thinking "god I don't think I could handle it if I'd been in his shoes" or something like that.
