contel3 Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Out of curiosity, how often do you see them? How do you find a good balance between time alone with your partner and time with your own/their friends?
d0nnivain Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Ours was always unbalanced because I'm an extrovert with a huge circle & he's an introvert from a family of introverts. My family was also local while his was spread around the country. When they were alive DH & I had dinner with my parents every Friday. We just spent time at the beach with my 2 cousins who we see several times per year because it's convenient & usually fun. We try to see his family at least once per year but that can be hard& sometimes it's longer. Fortunately we saw everybody last year so Covid didn't really impact it but it will probably be at least another year until we see some of them. We're hoping for a Thanksgiving trip to see some. Most of my friends became our friends because DH didn't have many close friends. We do travel to the west coast every year, except this year, to see the Marines he served with. Again my friends are local so it's easier to see them -- no plane required. My friend group has always been inclusive so it's easy to blend new SO's & their friends into our group. 1
CaliforniaGirl Posted September 19, 2020 Posted September 19, 2020 I don't really see my friends in person right now. Lots of SM, texting, Zooming, FT. I see my in-laws two or three times a month, distanced, because they jones mightily for the grandchildren.

If you are in a very close knit family, don't expect your bf to want to be joined at the hip with them. See them and your friends whenever you like, and your bf can do the same. You need to make time for a relationship, and still balance friends, family, alone time, work/school, hobbies, interests, etc.
