Really? I figured women that age would embrace compliments on their appearance. lol Funny Most women I know, past 50, wish they'd get compliments on their appearance.

The over 50's woman I know (myself included) are long past wanting unsolicited opinions from strangers on our appearance.    While I wouldn't be offended if it happened,  I would raise an eyebrow.

I think you make a lot of generalizations, QR. If you listen to what we're saying, you'll get that everyone is different.

What I should have added earlier is that random men who give a compliment frequently have a motive for doing so.  So we're back to square one about why women wear a ring.   Yes, this may be unfair on the guys who just want to be nice, but they only have other men to blame for being viewed with cynicism.

In the movies and TV guys always are lucky and a no then means yes later. Not usually IRL. No is no. See ya later around. Or they wear no ring and still tell me they are married and don't wear it!

Most men I've talked to about it don't even know what finger the ring is supposed to go on so I've never considered it as a useful deterrent. A lot of men who I have told "I have a boyfriend" to have often replied with "he doesn't have to know" so I think we need to start having some "take no for an answer" education.
