I was curious. Where did you meet the person you're dating?

I met the person I’m dating on OKCupid which in my book is a graveyard of dating apps. At least  in my area and I live in a big city. I hardly went on the app. I used Bumble and Hinge more.

Later (E the man I'm dating) told me he waited 3 months for me to respond to his message. Lol Thats because I didn't think I'd meet anyone there so I hardly went on it or paid attention to who was meaasing me. It was quarantine boredom that changed that.

Tinder! We've been dating for a very short period of time, but I'll see how things go

At the moment I am living in a big city so it's easier to use dating apps

First long-term relationship: work

ONS between long-term relationships: OLD (a couple of months of activity yielded 3 dates, one of which ended as a ONS)

Second long-term relationship and other love interests since: shared hobbies

OLD since the last break-up has not resulted in a date so far. There nearly was one, but it fell flat when she learned I'm 5"8. 😄

A friend of mine asked me to go with her to hear his band. She had a casual acquaintance with him.  He came over to talk on one of the breaks and she introduced us.  That was about a year ago, we started hanging out as friends and have been seeing each other for the past 7-8 months.

FWIW I meet my last long term BFs as follows:

1. At a high school reunion (we hadn't really known each other in HS)

2.  2 were from grad school.  1 lasted 2 years; the other 10

3.  At work -- I was a bartender.  He was the bookkeeper for the restaurant

The two worst dates I ever had were from the only 2 guys I met off OLD

Between the HS reunion guy & my current husband I had 2 dates with a guy I met at a singles event / board game meet-up.  He was still hung up on his long term EX.   Another guy I met at the same networking event where I met my husband.  We went out to lunch once but he couldn't hold a candle to my husband so that fizzled fast due to my lack of interest.

In high school, one through a mutual friend who set us up, another at a school dance, and another was the the friend of my best friend's gf.  In college, I met my now-ex at a frat party.  Later, about a dozen through OLD (20 years ago), which was awesome for me - still very good friends with about half of them, and am happily married to the best match from that group.

I met my current long term girlfriend in an apartment complex pool.  Swam up to her, chit-chatted for a bit and asked her out for drinks later that night.

We've been dating 8.5 years.

Work. Big ol' federal agency, very niche work/lifestyle; dating there was extremely common.

Tinder. We matched, I thought he was handsome and he was very polite and respectful in his messages. I singled him out from my other matches and he was the only one I really wanted to meet. It worked very well, I deleted my tinder after a week of installing it because my mission was accomplished 😄. I think I was very lucky though.

Tinder, which was a big surprise given how awful dating apps can be in general.

Bumble.      We haven't gone a day without talking since the day we met in person.    Just celebrated our 3 year anniversary

Not really , notice they're all only short relationships so far, date sites seem to make a lot of those but all the married ones met in RL . Dunno if that's typical or not these days but l do wonder about anything much real , like married , family , 10 or15 yrs real ever coming from date sites , given the time dates have been around so far. l know there are a few that have married from date sites, not sure how often that really happens though , pretty rarely l'd be thinking. Might start a thread about that ,

I met my husband at a party in college. I was there with my boyfriend and the party was for  a girl my now husband had just broken up with. I knew the moment I saw him, my boyfriend was toast. It was love at first sight!

The guy I was dating then, I met in one of my classes and most of the other guys I dated during that time I met at bars and through mutual friends.

On Bumble. I was pretty cautious, as it was the first time I'd used OLD. It wasn't love at first sight, but we felt very at ease with and interested in one another. He was such a fascinating person to talk to.

I met the boyfriend before him through a good friend, and the one before that at a political demonstration. The first guy I dated was a classmate at uni.

In a restaurant, she was the waitress.

Before that through work, same company but different location.

Before that on a bus, sat down next to her and started talking to her.

Before that, my best friends girlfriends sister.

None of this online rubbish! Real life all the way.

First GF - we met on the walk to the pub on uni night, then lasted 6 years.

Current partner - we met during our studies but didn't hook up until we both became single. It was only a few days after my breakup and she wanted to be a good friend, and then it happened. Oh how times change...

Only detailing the significant ones

1. HS boyfriend - met him during the annual school review.  He was doing sound and I was making props

2. First husband - he was a plus one of a mate at a work Xmas party

3. Second husband - I was invited by a mutual friend to his house party. I stayed the night  ;) 🍆 👄

Bumble!

She's an absolute gem, this one!  We went on our first date the same day we matched.  It's been nine months and our relationship hasn't missed a beat!
