Almost 29 and still single. I feel very left out and disheartened that I've only focussed on academia so far and I have missed out on all relationships

Yes, I’d recommend waiting until he asks you out again. Don’t worry about signs about his interest. You can’t control his interest one way or the other so worrying about it serves no purpose. In fact if it were me I’d still be looking at profiles and trying to set up another date with someone interesting. Helps keep your mind off this guy while you’re waiting for the next date...
