Friend sent me sensitive work content - data protection breach?

An update about my friends situation.

She was investigated as she was told by her bosses, and as a result of her data protection breach she was suspended and then given a disciplinary hearing. She said  that this stays on her file for five years and that she feels that her reputation has been tarnished (well yeah duh!)

I told her that she is really lucky that she wasn't sacked for this but a part of me still thinks that she doesn't realise the severity of what she did, it's like she underestimates what she did.

I think it's wonderful that she wasn't fired. In this environment it would be awful for anyone to lose their job. I'm sure she's learned her lesson.
