I'm sorry if this has already been mentioned/discussed here at LS, but I just noticed there is a new series coming to Netflix on July 22nd called Love on the Spectrum.  It is a docuseries about men and women on the autism spectrum trying to find love.

I hope there are some experts giving advice, but I couldn't tell by watching the trailer.

I don't know if you are watching the Aus version or if it will be a US one.    The Aus one I saw had a lot of support for the daters on the show.  They had a woman giving solid advice on making connections with dates.  And there was one scene where a young woman got overwhelmed and distressed on a date and the support people came from behind the cameras to help both of the daters.   It was a lovely show.

I didn't get to finish the series because one of the guys was so funny....hubby and I were cracking up (as were his family) but my son got all confused and thought we were laughing *at* him (as opposed to enjoying his approach to life) and lost his sh*t.  If we go back, we'll do it in secret.

Awwww <3.  I'll have to go watch the trailer again, but I"m pretty sure they all had American accents....I feel like I would have remembered Aussie accents, so I think it's probably a different show.  Is the Aussie version on Netflix?

No, I think the Aussie version was on ABC (Australian Broadcasting Corp)

Oh wow! I'm going to watch. My son is autistic. He does have a girlfriend though. :) But I'd be interested to see this.

It looks like relationships are also profiled, not just people who are searching.

I get it about your son. We have to be very careful around my son...he's ID so often he only "gets" certain things and he has thought at times we were laughing at him. We don't but it's hard for him to get happiness/fun/making fun as separate from one another at times. It depends. We tread carefully. 😂

He's otherwise an amazingly sweet, easy to get along with guy, though.

Yes, ID here too.  It can make explaining concepts so difficult.  But I try to remember that if it's hard for us, it's even tougher for him.    So glad your guy is sweet and easy to get along with - life with someone who struggles with complex emotions can be tough for all concerned.

There's also a PBS show from 2015 called Autism in Love, which can be found on YouTube and is worth watching as well.

I will check out out as well.  I have a friend (an autistic, legally blind gal 18 years younger than me) who got married last year.  She told me she and her bf were going to get married and they were going to move to Colorado.  I cautioned her against this.  I said to her that right now she was in the middle of infatuation, infatuation is going to wear off in 6-10 months and when it does you better like that person.  Not love, just like them.  And if you don't?  You're in trouble.  And you will end up being stranded not just with this guy but in the middle of a new state where you don't know anyone or even the names of streets around you.  She didn't listen.  They're still married.  I have never met her husband but according to her mom this guy is even more disabled than she is.  I hope she knows what she's doing.

This came on Netflix today, and yes, it is the Aus version.
