My exgirlfriend from 2 years ago recently contacted me. We met in New york and once had the dream of moving together to another country. We went to that country for a few months but near the end of our stay something brokedown and our dynamic wasn't there. I was admittedly put off by her for certain things and became cold...she did the same and we quickly split without a true reason and she moved back to the country. I didn't contact her at all for the next 2 years, moved on etc but recently i recieved several emails from her asking about me and eventually wanting to get back together...I'm interested also, anyone have experience with this kind of situiation ?

well, i guess similar situation as in i did something similar to your ex. i also contacted my ex-bf recently, after basically 2 years of no contact. honestly, i guess i want to get back together but i dunno how he feels. can i ask what your reaction was upon receiving mail from her after so long?

I've had several ex-gfs do this.

For Sirena, my reaction has always been friendly curiousity. I always think that if you liked someone once, you can like them again. But usually the circumstances don't allow it.

For Americjim, sure, go ahead. But slowly. And make sure if it starts to get serious that the issues which split you the first time are fully discussed and properly resolved.

Thanks for the responses, Sirena after she wrote me I was pretty surprised but like romeo still curious about her. The fact that we never split on terrible terms left some feelings for her in my mind and obviously hers and makes me want to try just for curiosity. The thing that made me interested again was that she came out and said that she wanted to get back together... If you weren't burned by an ex before it might be worth trying to get back together. We are planning to go on a vacation together in november, to see how things go...Romeo did you rekindle a relationship with an ex?

Timing is everything. Maybe now the two of you are more mature and able to deal with your situation and your feelings for each other. Taking off with a new lover to live in some exotic place sounds really romantic. The reality is starting a new relationship and moving to a different country and dealing with some culture shock is stressful. Keep the lines of communication open and take it one step at a time. Maybe this time around that romantic dream will work.

Looks like she never forgot about you.

If i was you i'll give it a shot.

No, never. I'm not against this in principle though - several couples close to me have got together again as a second chance. In each case it has worked rather well.

As Topper says, timing can be everything. Perspective and more maturity can make all the difference.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this. Honestly speaking, I felt burned by my ex, though it may have been because I wasn't sure what I wanted from my relationship with him. I think I'm more mature after two years. In any case, you've kind of given me some hope... at least maybe there is a chance? I hope things work out for you, americjim. Thanks again for sharing.
