Els Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 There are young healthy people who have died from it, but not "many". While obviously everyone should take every reasonable precaution, in my opinion living separately from your partner who works in essential services and leaving them to fend for themselves is not a "reasonable precaution" in my age range. I don't actually know any long-term or married couples our age who are living separately due to this, although that could be because we are a country with relatively few deaths (similar to Japan). Nor is it a recommendation by our government.
Ellener Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 Japan just declared a state of emergency centred on Tokyo. Hope you are both ok @skanzer
poppyfields Posted April 6, 2020 Posted April 6, 2020 (edited) Understood Elyswth. We live in the US, where just in our state alone, the number of confirmed cases is 15,238 and deaths 351 and increasing at an alarming rate. Our governor has ordered everyone to self-isolate as much as humanly possible, and for my brother, whose wife is at great risk every day working as a nurse, it's simply not worth the risk. Yes it's very difficult, but necessary in their case, they stay connected via various other means. I understand your choice though, no wrong or right, it's a personal decision for each couple to make for themselves depending on their particular circumstances. Edited April 6, 2020 by poppyfields 1
