Don't then, sign off and don't have any income...😖

You really do make mountains out of molehills as the saying goes.

I've been looking for work, and in my city, a lot of grocery stores and hardware stores are hiring extra people temporarily, because of the virus for a few months now.

However, I am afraid to work a job, where you have to deal with the public coming in and out now because the virus.  I spend a fair amount of time taking care of my Grandma and wouldn't want her to get it.  So what do you think?  But at the same time, I don't want to feel like a lazy person who won't accept work...

Are you able to collect unemployment?  You need to not do those jobs or your grandmother will be at high risk with you being around so many people

Unfortunately in MA I know someone who cares for his elderly mother, he is not working now due to layoff but does not know what to do when he is allowed to go back to work

with this going on.  He lives in the same house as his mother and he will be in contact with a lot of people due to his job.

Unemployment said unless he or his mother are sick and on quarantined he can't collect unemployment when he can work.

He is totally screwed as he will not take the risk of infecting his mother who has health issues but he is going to go broke doing so.

Oh yeah, I am collecting it, but I feel guilty collecting it because they want to you look for other jobs, and I have been avoiding other jobs because of the pandemic.  So when they ask you on the reports if you have been applying for other jobs, for the past few weeks I lied, and say yes, but it was actually a no, because of the pandemic.  So I feel bad about that.

Most governments have and are turning a blind eye to it. The absolute worst thing they could do is slightly decrease the monthly pay you get.

There are also most likely hundreds of thousands of people that have done the same thing that are in the same scenario as you.

Absolutely no need to feel guilty, it's an understandable circumstance. Carry on collecting what you can and once everything's subsided then you can actively search for a job
