konfuzd Posted October 7, 2005 Posted October 7, 2005 Hi all, I am at 10 days of NC with my most recent ex. Each and every time I felt the urge to break it, I logged on to LS to get some inspiration from the stories/advice on this site..... and I wanted to share my success story, since many of you played a major role. Ex and I had plans to go to a concert last night. I went through the struggles of whether I should call to see if he's still going, try to find out from mutual friends, or to just not go and avoid the whole situation. End of it all, I decided that I was going to go to the concert alone, no longer would I put my life on hold for him, I needed to move on with or without him. I walked into the venue (it was at a bar), and was shocked at how many others were there alone. Totally helped me get over the awkwardness. I ended up forgetting about everything and just enjoying the show.... (ex never showed) I had noticed a very attractive guy who had also come to the show by himself, and we exchanged many shy glances, until he finally approached me. We ended up having an amazing evening, we went to a quieter pub after, had great conversation, and ended up staying out until 3am (He worked at 6, I worked at 8). Nothing beyond the conversation and an exchange of phone numbers... Although I can only hope things will progress with this new guy, I'm not going to lose any sleep if he doesn't call, I will still take out of it the major self-esteem boost I totally needed! I wanted to post this experience for two reasons. 1- Thank you to all who encourage the NC way of coping. Without your encouragement, I know I would have called the ex, ended up going to the show with him, and missing out on meeting this incredible person. 2- Provide some hope to those who are going through a similar situation. I was in no way out looking for someone that night, NOT into rebound relationships at all. It truly is when you are not looking that you send out the "I'm comfortable in my own skin, I can create my own happiness" vibe, that you will stumble across something wonderful. Good luck to you all, be strong... NC is the way to go!!!! Again, thanks so much!!!
