Does anyone else feel like they had it already?  Last week I felt like I caught a bug, had diarrhea for nearly two days, felt my cheeks flush a little during that time and also felt achey.

I didn’t bother to take my temp because the flushing in my cheeks would come and go.

I've had all those symptoms for months.  I started having an intestinal problem still unsolved back in November.  Was about to go to a specialist when all this started.  I have chronic bronchitis so I'm on a big regimen to try to keep the mucus flowing already.  I have stepped it up and did have a dry cough part of yesterday.  I had a sore throat on one side for 3 days that I gargled salt water and watched with a flashlight and been drinking as much warm water as I can.  Doctors say drink a whole lot of water through this and it's to try to keep your bronchia cilia moving to fight infection.  Warm water is better because it thins mucus better, just like drinking hot tea.  Caffeine is not good as it dries you out.

I feel good this morning, but I'm going to keep maintenance going with salt water just to try to stem any infection in my sinuses and throat (it all gets infected together).  Also using a homeopathic ear drop that helps with ear infections and also using a prescribed ointment for inside my nose.  None of it is going to cure coronavirus, but it will help keep me from declining to where I'm easier to kill!  I'm also drinking Emergen-C every day to keep up on my vitamins (Vitamin C does not help coronavirus however).  It's in lieu of having to keep buying fresh produce at the store.   It's good for immunity fortification.

I just went and picked up tacos at a taco place.  That was a lot of packaging to handle.  Too much.  I used wipes but you can't hardly wipe off plastic and paper bags.  Just had to disinfect everything once I was home and finished eating and not touch my face in the meantime.  Such a pain, right?

Well, we just learn our schools are out till May and it will be revised again when we get there. My teen cannot hide her joy!

Of course he does @amaysngrace.  That's why Beendaredonedat was absolutely correct when she said he's like the mayor in 'Jaws.'  DeSantis and the federal govn't, btw, may at any time override and take charge of potentially harmful actions to their constituents.

I’m not sure why you’d comment on it being a mayor’s discretion then.

Maybe. My dad went to NYC in January and brought back some kind of "cold" that I caught. It took me about 6 weeks to get over it fully, and I'm now taking another round of antibiotics for some residual tonsillitis that I think is related to the entire ordeal.

I'm January, I'm pretty sure I had pneumonia. I did telemedicine, so I never had a chest X-ray to confirm a diagnosis. But I had a fever, felt terrible, chills, awful coughing fits, and I could feel it in my chest in a way I haven't with your run of the mill cold. I almost never go to the doctor. I always self-treat with over the counter stuff. But I started coughing up yellow, blood-tinged phlegm, so I did telemedicine at 8 pm one night. Whatever the heck that was just loosened its grip on me a few weeks ago. Oh, and I had GI symptoms. Weird nausea that I don't normally get with a regular cold. I'm just now getting off the struggle bus.

I probably just had pneumonia, but it is interesting that I caught this second-hand from NYC.

I posted a link.  DeSantis has left beach closings up to mayors of cities/towns rather than making a statewide mandate.  Link up when the blues brothers get to their floor. : )

The Premier in my province just gave mothers crap in his press conference for taking their kids to crowded playgrounds like there was no virus out there killing people.  O.O  So negligent.

I understand that @Timshel

I’m just saying your governor stinks.  He should’ve taken matters into his own hands at the start rather than leaving it up to the mayors.

Saying it’s a mayor’s choice means nothing really especially when it’s the governor who gave them that choice.

He’s terrible....a follower, not a leader.

I should have but I was also equally shocked. Most people likely don’t even think about it, but they should. Panic has overcome rational thought here.

I asked an elderly gentleman to please move back six feet in the line to get into the grocery store this morning.  He was very gracious, bowed and moved back.

As long as they're not coughing I don't really care within reason. If they're coughing they should stay home.

It’s why it’s so perplexing.  The symptoms they list could be from a number of things.

I suffer from seasonal allergies and most of the symptoms are the same as Covid-19.

Now I'm reading that it can affect your digestive tract as well.  They’re really such basic symptoms that 50 different things could be the cause.

Well, she was about five to six feet away so she was a safe distance from me. Most people are thankfully keeping a respectful distance from each other.

I have an allergy cough but I'm definitely not sick.

My ex-H went to Vegas last week and just this morning he came down with symptoms.  Could just be a cold, but who's to know?  The kids will be with me indefenitely because of it (he already told them to stay away after his trip simply because he was traveling, so they have not been exposed to whatever it is he has.)

Yes, it can affect your digestive tract because there's mucus there as well, and hence the diarrhea and different symptoms like that.  But the way it kills is in your bronchia down into your lungs, because they become inoperable and eventually affect the breathing and heart and all that.

Yep.  I said a few days ago that I was impressed with his press conference and for a minute thought that he (Desantis) was getting it.  However, though our schools are closed, the beach closings are reliant upon mayoral discretion.  Restaurants are at 6 ft. or 50% capacity which is nonsense.  Bars and clubs are shut down but apparently people are going to liquor stores and hitting the beach.  So yeah, unfortunately, he's an ass.

We have no state income tax here, so I realize that FL is heavily reliant on the tourism industry but this isn't ok.

I said that he stinks, just to be perfectly clear.

I am glad Ford and GM  are also behind this, as I was highly skeptical of  Elon's claim that he would make them.

I hate to be a cynic - but he didn't shut down the Tesla factory here in Fremont despite orders from the county for a shelter in place and a stoppage of all non essential business.

He claimed that his factory was exempt (it's not - county had to correct him on that) and was making his thousands of employees come to work - in the hot bed of a major outbreak. Endangering our entire community.

And now that the county has mandated that most factory work etc halt - his employees have to use their PTO time. If they do not have any, no pay.

He has sent out memos that this is just a flu and over blown.

Oh but now he is going to manufacture ventilators. I wonder how one sets up the supply chain to manufacture an entirely new product during a pandemic.

I agree about Ford and GM.  Something tells me if RC was handling this chaos things would be much smoother plus everyone would eat good and HEALTHY.

Reporter:   President Trump, what can you say to help alleviate the fear of the American people?  There have been 272,000 deaths worldwide.

Trump:  I'd tell them that you are a terrible reporter!

SMH

Later Pence was asked the same question:

Pence:   I would tell them to not be afraid but rather be vigilant

Now that's professional, intelligent, reassuring and it doesn't make him appear incapable.

I'd say calling her a terrible reporter is a good call; 272K is the case count worldwide, the death toll so far is currently fewer than 12K.

Whoops, my bad.  I quoted that wrong.  "Cases" worldwide."   He then went on to state the death toll.   You can google for the exact quote, or you can just save time and get to:  The point, Trump avoided the actual question, did nothing to alleviate any fears and just embarrassed himself with his outburst.

BTW:  It was a male reporter.

Once again, no toilet paper in my local grocery store.

On a brighter note, The powers that be are discussing having "classes" via our local Educational television channel if the shut down has to go on further than April 5th.

I hope so, my daughter is getting a tad frazzled trying to work from home and keep up with my grandchildren's schooling.  She can't bring them in here as both the hubby and I have pre-existing conditions that are on the list so we are keeping (overly?) safe.

keeping the virus from entering the lungs appears to be the key,

it is possible it will linger in the throat for a day or two initially before entering the lungs,

gargling with warm water and salt/vinegar combined with drinking loads of water may be enough to wash the virus away before it can get to the lungs

For those who are worried they might have symptoms, have a look at this BBC video:

 https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/health-51934576/how-do-i-know-if-i-have-coronavirus

It's clear now that anyone of any age can be affected at any time, and imo the more people come forward with mild symptoms the better (and the more reassuring). Everyone is bound to know someone who has or will contract it, it's the nature of viruses. They all work that way. I'll admit I had a bit of a meltdown when I was told  my son was a possible case (he'd just had his MMR recall vaccine so his immunity was not great) because the focus on the media is so intense, especially around the worst cases and how hospitals can't cope, and because he won't get tested.

He had all the symptoms shown in the video. The first 3 days were spent in bed with sweats, a fever and a non-stop dry cough that kept him up at night. His chest was burning. I made him drink lots of water because I was worried he'd become dehydrated. Only today on day 5 has his cough subsided and he's back to himself. It's now a waiting game to see if either my daughter or I get whatever that was - WHO says that an infected person can pass it on to two or three people, or to none at all. We'll see. If he got it at school, he'll have infected people there.

If that's what it is (and it might not be), it seems very unpleasant but not that bad. I'm aware it's an anonymous forum and people may think I'm on drugs or making it up or seeking attention or whatever, which is fine. @Timshel was right about triggers; to me this has triggers feelings of not being believed, but there's nothing I can do about it so I've moved on from that now. I'm just posting in case it reassures others, especially those in Europe where the virus is more prevalent, and those who have children.

They handed us a very small problem, along with an effective blueprint on how to deal with it, and we refused against all sense to restrict travel and enforce mandatory quarantines.

Seriously?? That's pure BS. They waited like a month and a half before alerting international organizations about what was going on. Do you even know that? CDC received the first alert, and not an alarming one for the seriousness of the virus, on Jan 3rd. This gives you more perspective about what's going on now. In the meantime, people were travelling, mingling, doing all sorts of things as nothing had happened.

After that first alert, which appeared like a new wave of flu that goes on every year, we started seeing videos coming from China that were alarming (end of January). International organizations asked the government to run inspections, but the Chinese government didn't allow that. Which caused more delay in response.

My country had the first recognized case mid February, and we took measures right away. Schools in my region were closed on Feb. 15.

China has serious responsability on what is going on now in 140+ countries. The countries not making the list probably don't have tests available yet.
