I just wish that this country would do a full shutdown like Italy before things get as bad as they are in Italy. Is clear that people will not be smart on their own so we need enforcement because this country is that tipping point where we still start to see a massive death toll if we don't take drastic action. Experts say that a five week shutdown could get this under control so why are we not doing it? A couple months of inconvenience and discomfort is worth avoiding irreparable damage to our way of life. I don't like Trump but he was right when he said to think of this as a war. It is similar to huddling in a bomb shelter for a few weeks.

I am debating the part about Bayers donating medicine

That's not really important, the medicine in question is plentiful and cheap, that's the point.

My Province has its first death. A lady in a retirement home. She got it from her daughter coming back from abroad and not putting herself in quarantine. A decision she'll have to live with for the rest of her life.

Now, the other residents of that same retirement home refuse to isolate themselves, they walk to the drug store, shopping mall, each day just to entertain themselves. I think our government will get tired of this and hit us with a serious lockdown. Which I would agree with 100%.

So of course my liquor store didn’t have what I wanted so I hopped in my car.  While out I decided to hit a few other places for a few other things and every single out of state driver pissed me off more and more.

How would they like it if a bunch of us came from an infected area to their area where there was none?  Or one actually, a man from NY!

Anyway a cop was behind me and saw me flipping them all off (quite aggressively, enough to get their attention!) and when I checked my rear view mirror cop tipped his hat.

We’re that pissed off.  Come here but know you may get shot.

Our hospitals don’t have the size and resources to care for all of you so just stay the hell home.

thanks!

Yeah, good luck with that. Trump would look weak by letting the world aware he doesn't have anything under control,  and you know he doesn't want to lose the re-election.

How do you think every European Country feels about going from zero virus to everything being contaminated?

But of course Europeans are too nice to badmouth the Chinese govt. 🤣

Or Coloradoans. Lol.

They closed my county to any tourists. But we are a hot hot hot zone right now. 65x greater incidence (per captia) than say Denver county. And that's probably way low due to the lack of test kits.

Trump doesn’t want this to end before the election, it’s like being a wartime President.

But if this isn’t contained by November there’s no way he will win.

I don't think Trump knows what he wants or says most of the time. If it wasn't for the money and properties and stocks and so on that his daddy left him, he'd probably be in a ward for Alzheimer patients 🤣

Nah, Trump will win the presidency again. Most people who vote for him are boomers, and boomers like that oudated macho-personality that Trump exudes, despite having no reason for it tho.

I just want it to get here, see what we’re dealing with and then handle it already.

Mostly I’m concerned for my daughter and all the other healthcare workers.

They're the ones on the front line, they are our heroes.

Liquor is definitely not your friend when angry! I've been watching a neighbourhood argument escalate and the last time charges were brought then dropped with the two people; the police won't be so kindly if they get diverted from their work for such stupidity at this time. Alcohol was involved last time apparently and it turned into an unsightly brawl...over something so petty it's not even worth arguing for most people! But some people just can't let anything go...

Hope it doesn't affect you and yours. Stay home and clean and do positive things- that's all 'dealing with it', and helping other people stay calm and be encouraged, and giving practical help etc.

If Trump doesn't get this under control by November neither him nor any other candidate will have a country to run. I am really glad my uncle and niece got out of NYC before the infection really started spreading.

Still trying to wrap my brain around the idea that this is the new normal

For a while it ill be, yes, but what we preserve daily will endure, stuff like our kindness, faith, acceptable behaviour.

Imagine in years to come the enduring image being of oneself inciting a supermarket brawl...

I started another thread about managing anxiety and anxiety disorder. I'll collect resources.

Any favorite artist to song-cover?

I've been memorising some Randy Newman songs earlier, they are very uplifting to clean to!

Seriously, everyone take a breath and get a grip. If this is a civilization ending event then we've really done a poor job of maintaining the civilization we were gifted by our grandparents. Let's do better. I'm taking the wife for her dentist appointment soon, everyone should calm down and get on with their life.

Center your chi or whatever, this isn't a forever thing.

A few days I went to the liquor store for some Baileys and I noticed that Corona beer was pretty much untouched. They might have to do some rebranding when this is over.

It's airborne and deadly. Hundreds, if not thousands of people have already been infected and it's in the US, at 2 ports of entry at least. The confirmed case in Chicago apparently was carrying it for 11 days in the US before they caught on.

Has the next true pandemic started? 🤔Or will it just be another Ebola dud.

 - it's not airborne.

On a side note, times may change.

Decades ago they used to have home milk delivery. MacArthur dairy used to do it in my neighborhood when I was a kid. Some families used to get milk delivered to their door everyday. I wonder if that will happen again?

I'm thinking that WFH when it's possible will get a boost. It was already trending up and this isn't going to make it less popular unless there is some sort of employee performance failure and a backlash.

They need milk trucks and toilet paper trucks!

In bigger cities they have pervasive grocery delivery already, including Amazon Fresh and I guess Walmart. If this gets a boost I'd be thrilled, I don't need to go jocky for parking every 10 days to feel right.

I've just heard that some of our alcohol makers are now switching to making desinfectant alcohol. 👍
