Concealed means concealed. As we who have permits often say. You must live in an urban center, probably one of the ones that's become left leaning recently if I had to bet. We had pickups parked in the school parking lot with rifles in the rear window gun racks during hunting season here when I was in HS, and no one gave it a thought. A lot of people here have guns, but yeah, you don't SEE them as much any more. Concealed. You know. But then we don't have big riots here either. I'm not expecting a lot of trouble here but in some of the leftist governed urban paradises there might very well be trouble.

RecentChange Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 Well, s****'s getting real. Our county offices are closed today (affects my business) All seniors to shelter at home All bars, breweries etc closed (my husband works for a brewery) Many restaurants in San Jose closed because they either can't comply with anti-crowding or simply can't afford to stay open with such little business. I finally broke down and stocked up once I found a grocery store that didn't have empty shelves. Now set with enough meat, grains, frozen vegis etc to get through a few weeks. We are planning to lay low for a few weeks. My husband already knows two business that are permanently closed due to this. Many in the service industry will now be on unemployment. 2

This is why you don't know about it more than likely, but a burglar performing a hot burglary has a special ticket for a demo.

Redhead14 Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 We now have a state-wide curfew - 8pm to 5am, schools closed, etc. 1
Gaeta Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 The stress is climbing up here as well. We have decided to work from home and stop coming to our downtown office as it's a hot spot for infection. I am relieved. 1
Inflikted Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 I still can't even begin to predict what will happen with my job. I mean, our main mode of business is several stores in the state; we might not be a national chain, but I doubt the stores would all simultaneously go out of business, and as long as that doesn't happen, the corporate back end office stuff I do would still need to exist. My mom has been fear mongering, and believes the internet, TV, and radio are all going to be shut down because of this, but I can't imagine it would get that far (how would people get information?), along with thinking that all the electricity and water, and stuff, will get shut down, too. I can't imagine that would happen...

I was wondering if anyone had heard similar stuff and might have any more insight on what to expect. A quarantine is for those infected by the virus. No going out, no contact with others, pretty much isolating yourself in a room for 14 days under medical advice. Confinement = what France, Italy and Spain (and others) are doing = staying at home as much as possible, going out for food / absolute necessity / a little fresh air, no social gatherings, reporting to authorities, likely a curfew. 2

Ruby Slippers Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 (edited) A little bit of good news from my neck of the woods: my new employer contacted me this morning said my federal background check cleared, and we set my start date for my new job! They're currently not working from home, but I made sure that if they go to remote work, I would do the same as a new employee - to make sure I wouldn't have any gap between jobs / pay. Then they sent me the notice via email and I sent my resignation letter to my boss. It's official! I've been focusing on, writing down, visualizing, and trying to manifest this job and salary for years, and now it's real! It's meaningful humanitarian work that I believe in and will feel good about doing every day, with an awesome salary that will be life-changing for me. Truly a dream come true My immediate concerns are minor - I was planning to give myself a major wardrobe upgrade in preparation for this new, fairly prominent leadership position, wondering how I'll pull that off with so many places closed. Hopefully online shopping will save me. But this is a trifling concern in the grand scheme. I did it! I got my dream job and my dream salary!! Edited March 16, 2020 by Ruby Slippers 6 1

Oddly enough, the fact that I'm home from work today (again, an unrelated personal day, nothing corona-related) has me feeling less stressed out. I dunno if it's just my coworkers talking about it all day at work that makes me anxious, or what. I dunno. I guess it just feels "safe" at home. Heck, even this weekend, when I went to my friends' house, I kinda felt uneasy about being away from home, which is kinda silly, because it's not like anything could happen either way.

Ellener Posted March 16, 2020 Posted March 16, 2020 More better news, the first round of US testing begins Monday on a Covid-19 vaccine. Health editor, BBC News online: 'The first human trial of a vaccine to protect against pandemic coronavirus is starting in the US later on Monday, according to reports. A group of 45 healthy volunteers will have the jab, at the Kaiser Permanente research facility, in Seattle. The vaccine cannot cause Covid-19 but contains a harmless genetic code copied from the virus that causes the disease. Experts say it will still take many months to know if this vaccine, or others also in research, will work. Scientists around the world are fast-tracking research.' * 2

Yes 'home' is a big source of security. I haven't had a proper home since Harvey but I make a 'nest' wherever I'm staying. Glad you feel less stressed (((((((((((((((((( ))))))))))))))))))))
