I got some takeout today, and found a small hair in my food. Now I'm irked that said hair will have been the thing that infects me with coronavirus. v_v

Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS)
Nothing to do with China. Cases were first found in Saudi Arabia.
"Camel flu", but again likely derived from bats.

Modern chiropterologists tell you that you shouldn't be scared of bats and teach how the historical fear of them was just superstition. But I guess that fear was justified.

I hear you on this. Guessing and second guessing everything. My throat hurts and of course I just know it must be from that post office run and how mailing that letter probably cost me my life and other such dramatic crap. My friend baked me some brownies but they still sit in their ziplock bag on the counter, teasing and tormenting me. I’m already transferred them to another bag but what if some random germs stuck to them? 🙄

Put the brownies in the microwave for a few seconds and all the germs are killed.

It's been strange getting used to the fact that all the little actions I take could make the difference between someone else living or dying. Or hundreds of people even.

Every step, every breath I expel, everything I touch. At the grocery store, gas station, it all matters.

It's also weird that I can't get Chinese take out anymore. Or go to the movies. I wasn't planning on going for a while anyway but it's still weird to have the choice taken from me.

We have got to stop eating so much. I can't go out and take a long walk so I don't want to get out of this twenty pounds heavier. I don't seem to be gaining any weight though.

Some people sure know how to "help out" in a crisis...

There are people against 5G. We live in democratic countries, supposedly, but companies rule (lobbies). There are petitions against 5G even in Italy, as we don't know the effects it will have on us all. We will know in a few years. We're already seeing an increase in the cases of brain cancer, that was once considered rare. Now not so rare anymore.

So, well, there might be people believing in a conspiracy, but more people questioning the introduction of 5G.

Interestingly some old remedies are emerging as possibly useful in the fight against Covid 19,

one is vitamin d- high dose capsules- 4000 IU per capsule

and the old Bcg tuberculosis vaccine may be of assistance in helping the immune system, with a few similarities between TB and Covid 19.

Shyt , thought that might happen , saw him trying to talk to the people from home a day or two ago could see he was struggling , he didn't look too well at all.

He didn't look well at all, you are correct.
Stress and overworking lowers your immunity and reduces your ability to fight infections.
He needs to take time off until he is well.

Apparently animals can get it, too. Someone on another forum suggests that's a very bad thing for our prospects with this virus.

We're all vaccinated against tbc in Italy. So I guess it doesn't mean a freaking thing.

Vitamin D recommendation relies on the assumption that in Canada, Spain and in the North of Italy people have a vitamin D deficiency at the end of winter. And more specifically, they claimed that those countries have noticeably less solar radiation annually as well as more air pollution. These areas with high air pollution block ultraviolet frequencies that result in vitamin D production in the skin.

The evidence quoted to promote vitamin D though is often unrelated to this virus. Some in vitro studies have been conducted and little more, but no real evidence so far.

The Vitamin D is about shoring up the immune system not really about treating the virus.
The  BCG vaccine is also about boosting immunity.

The vaccine seems to “train” the immune system to recognize and respond to a variety of infections, including viruses, bacteria and parasites, experts say. There is little evidence yet that the vaccine will blunt infection with the coronavirus, but a series of clinical trials may answer the question in just months.

On Monday, scientists in Melbourne, Australia, started administering the B.C.G. vaccine or a placebo to thousands of physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists and other health care workers — the first of several randomized controlled trials intended to test the vaccine’s effectiveness against the coronavirus.

“Nobody is saying this is a panacea,” said Nigel Curtis, an infectious diseases researcher at the University of Melbourne and Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, who planned the trial. “What we want to do is reduce the time an infected health care worker is unwell, so they recover and can come back to work faster.

Yes, I got that. But no evidence about that. Just assumptions for now. People can start taking vitamin D, but if people then develop Covid 19 anyway, you'd just be giving false hopes or wrong belief that they are protected.

I may be wrong but am sure read somewhere that Italy has never mass administered the bcg vaccine,

which may explain why many older Italians have succumbed to the covid 19 virus,

although what defence a childhood bcg vaccine could provide against Covid 19 is questionable I suppose, but some research is certainly indicating that it may be of some benefit.

In regards to my previous post, apparently a tiger at the Bronx zoo has been confirmed to have the virus, and it's suspected a number of the other animals there have it, too. People elsewhere are saying that if this can spread between animals and humans, then it's pretty much game over for the human race. 😕

Don't you ever feel like posting something cheerful @Inflikted ?! Go on...it'll do you good!!!

Coronaviruses originate with animals, like MERS with bats.

'Coronaviruses are known to infect mammals and birds, including dogs, chickens, cattle, pigs, cats, pangolins, and bats.' ( National Geographic )

This coronavirus likely *came* from an animal which doesn't do well in captivity- the pangolin, which is why you never see them in zoos ( I think there's just one in America ) but is part of a huge illegal animal trade because people in some cultures believe it has medicinal or magic powers.

I wish, I just can't seem to tear myself away from all the doomsday talk on the other forums I spend time at. It's like a horrific train wreck that you just can't seem to look away from.

Our friends who have it are still doing well and it looks like the symptoms haven't become any worse than a common cold for them. We have a lot of friends in the NY/NJ area so we do worry about them.
