mortensorchid Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 I was disappointed today, I lost a job teaching online. I had been teaching online to kids in China, have to be up in the early morning for it. I woke up late the other day, I missed the first class starting at 4 am. I signed back on the computer and missed the first class, I responded to the case saying I overslept but went onto my other classes for the day. I got an email from them saying my contract was terminated because I violated the terms of the agreement. THat's harsh. But, life goes on. Another door will open.
CautiouslyOptimistic Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Sorry, MO :(. That really sucks. Have you looked into online teaching at a school in America with regular work hours? 1
FMW Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 Here's hoping you find something better soon that fits into your schedule. 1
Foxhall Posted January 3, 2020 Posted January 3, 2020 thats unlucky, bit harsh could have given you a warning just. would like to explore the online teaching myself
LuckyM Posted January 4, 2020 Posted January 4, 2020 I don't know your subject but I have taught onlne to Americans and it was easy, much less work than in classroom. Besides the fact that many online courses are dishonestly run and cheating is rampant, you should be able to find new courses. Probably the U.S. colleges prefer to give their work to current instructors (adjunct) rather than outsiders. If you are only an adjunct, colleges can fire you at will whenever they want with or without a contract--because adjuncts are the lowest level. They are often mistreated, paid low and with no union. Don't let that discourage you.
