How often should you hear from someone you started dating while they're traveling?

Since he’s been back we have hung out several times, and it seems things are progressing quite well. I unfortunately found out though that he wasn’t actually on a family vacation and was instead on a trip with a former romantic interest. When I asked him about it, he told me the trip was to end it. Since we weren’t exclusive at the time, and still aren’t, I feel I can’t be that upset about it, but wondering if this is a red flag.

Yeah it's a huge red flag. He LIED. You don't to go away with somebody to break up with them.

Absolutely a red flag. I once had two dates with a girl before I went on a planned two week vacation. When I brought her home from the second date I told her I'd call her during my vacation and bring her back a gift.

 

A week later I called (like I said I would) and she acted cold, like she didn't know me. Didn't know what to think of it. When I got home I went to the club and was told by her friend that she was with a new guy.

 

Long story short her friend convinced her I was the better choice and she came back to me. She end up cheating on me and leaving though. So the red flag was there, but I ignored it.

 

Past behavior IS indicative of future behavior. What's the old saying? When someone shows you who they are, believe them. He lied to you and he'll do it again IMO.
