Ramlick Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 What does it mean if your spouse admits to having a dream about a former lover?
LucreziaBorgia Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 It means they dreamed about their former lover. No more, no less. Dreams are strange things. They can mean something as a reflection of subconscious thought, or they can mean nothing - the brain taking a dump, more or less. The memories of her former lover are permanently affixed into her grey matter - dreams simply dredge up what happens to be in one's mind. What triggered the dream? Maybe nothing, maybe something: perhaps something is going on in your relationship that reminded her of circumstances in that relationship, perhaps she saw or heard something that reminded her of him in general, etc. Is there anything else besides dreams that has you worried?
slubberdegullion Posted October 1, 2005 Posted October 1, 2005 It doesn't mean anything. Dreams are just random firings of neurons and electrical impulses and whatnot. Our minds create images and feelings around them in order to make sense of them. "... there are modern scientists who claim that dreams are nothing more than images resulting from random electrical activity in the brain as it “housecleans” itself during the night." (http://www.guidetopsychology.com/dreams.htm) I remember a short Bob Newhart sketch: Wife awakes in a foul mood, glaring at husband. Husband says, "What's wrong?" Wife says, "I had a dream that we were at a party last night and you spent all your time chatting up some big-breasted bimbo." Husband says, "Sweetheart, it was only a dream. It wasn't real." Wife says, "But that's just like you!"
