I live in the city and have noticed a completely different calibre of men. I have been on Tinder for a few months, I know people say it is for hooks ups but I have heard of genuine relationships from it. What I don't get is the city I live in the majority of guys are covered in sleeves/tattoos, got an alcoholic drink in most photos, don't put bios on or are showing off Machu Picchu pictures off and have travelled 'everywhere' or snowboarding and look down on people. Most don't write bios either. You can be wasting time swiping through people who look like clones. When I went to other parts of the country whilst holiday I briefly looked at the app out of curiosity and found that the calibre of men in other areas was much better and had decent bios. Could it be that I might have to move to meet someone decent? I am looking to leave the city anyway.

It certainly could be. There is a world of difference in how people act in different cities and what the balance of power is.

I moved to Dallas in my 20s and I found my niche, but one thing I always noticed is out at bars, all the guys just leaned somewhere and waited for women to approach them, sneaking looks out of the corner of their eyes, but all eyeing the same two best looking women, oblivious to the others.

Then I started going to LA on business, and you'd think that would have been even worse. A whole town of beautiful people. Tiny women, size 0s.

But around the music culture, I was just blown away how friendly the guys were there, stunning looking guys. Outside on the street, they would just come up and chat, nothing like trying to pick you up, but just friendly chat. At bars or parties, it was like they saw me and didn't know who I was, hadn't seen me before, and would just come up and introduce themselves out of curiosity, again not even just trying to pick you up. Totally different vibe.

I had a group date one night with four guys there, all of us going to a concert, all band guys from different bands. It was like the land of plenty!

I mean, I found my niche in Dallas, and I found the tiny niche where I met guys I liked who liked me, but it's a big world out there, and if I hadn't been in my late 30s by the time I discovered the guys in LA, I'd have maybe moved because it was so much more approachable than I ever dreamed.

My guess is there are some other guys where you now live you'd like better, but you have got to get offline and explore in real life and find out where they hang out!

Yeah the whole sleeve thing's pretty sad these days, such a cloning.

l've only had a few tats from back in younger days when tats were tats and individual . But funny, way before the sleeve thing ever came in and it still would've been something very different l'd thought about it and designed what l'd wanted , never went ahead. And now here we are , these days, so thank God. Now, every clone and his dog runs off and gets a sleeve, l'm far prouder to not have any these days mine don't show unless l'm in shorts.

So your not dreaming , the cloning runs far wider than just sleeves l notice it all the time in the ways and areas your talking.

lt's very much with women too l noticed back when , l was on a date site , just in a different format.

l love my family and friends, and l want to travel, l love a man who can make me laugh, yawn, that was pretty well 9 out of 10 profiles and enough to make me throw a computer out the window.

But like me your in a good situation with moving later on anyway and all , so you can cast the net far wider and openly search out the different.

Give that a try, worked wonders in my sitch.

I'm so tired of tattoos. Yesterday I was behind this young guy in line at the grocery store, and he wasn't tall, but his body was amazing. He obviously worked out all the time. Big wide shoulders, large muscles, but not freakishly large (I hate that) and a tiny waist. But then he ruined it all by covering his arms with tats at some point and had one going up his neck too. And the arm tats were probably before he muscled up, faded and stretched.

From what I see here just with respect to Match location makes all the difference, just like in real estate.

Ok so preraph you understand why I wouldn't bother with online dating. And a lot of men here in LA don't do OLD either. The whole process of meeting feels positive not stressful.

Tired? Gosh, I hate them! Especially when it involves while limbs etc. So unattractive.

That is unnecessary. There are people who recommend an application that changes your location=) I have never used it but I found the name of one: fake gps

You don't have to move to find somebody decent. You do have to put away your phone & shut your computer. You live in a city. Go outside. Get involved in something. Join a group. Take a class. Sit in a coffee shop. Hang out in a dog park. Go anywhere that there are people, preferably people who share some interest in common with you. There you should be able to find people who aren't drinking who don't have as many tattoos.

It's getting pretty ridiculous. I was at the gyno's office and every woman from 18 to 80 had a tattoo on their legs. WTF?

I agree you just might have better luck going out to social events, festivals, coffee shop, etc. I do understand the demographics can play a major roll in the quantity of potential dates. In some situations moving can be an option. If there is better opportunity for work, most likely better opportunities for other things. Keep positive in everything you do and you will reap the rewards.
