housebaby Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Just wondering (from a guys perspective - ladies comments welcome too).... When a guy give you these compliments, what do they imply? which is better? when he tells you you are: 1) Hot? is this the MOST desireable? is it he ulimate physical compliment? 2) Sexy? does this imply that he only finds you sexually attractive? 3) Beautiful? is this equal to hot, or does it imply more respect? 4) Pretty? is this less than beautiful but more than cute? 5) Gorgeous is this also equal to hot? 6) Cute does this imply "not bad, not great"? Ladies, your comments are welcome too ---- but I am really looking for a male perspective on these comments. Which is best? do they all mean the same thing, or not?
LucreziaBorgia Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Just wondering (from a guys perspective - ladies comments welcome too).... This is how I see it for myself, and in terms of how I'd describe women I would be attracted to/date/sleep with. 1) Hot = I want to have sex with you. 2) Sexy = I've had sex with you and I like it and your body. If no sex yet, then its said in such a way as 'hot' but without the same frantic desire as when I describe someone as 'hot'. 3) Beautiful = The above, plus emotional investment. 4) Pretty = Attractive, but I'm not necessarily attracted to you. 5) Gorgeous = Attractive in a general sense - ie: Angelina Jole is gorgeous! 6) Cute = You're doable.
stowe Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 i was wondering about this myself JUST yesterday! How about "Attractive" & "Good-Looking" also?
elijahBailey Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 5) Gorgeous = Attractive in a general sense - ie: Angelina Jole is gorgeous! wrong. AJ is HOT HOT HOT!!!
Author housebaby Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 wrong. AJ is HOT HOT HOT!!! well. please explain the difference!!
Outcast Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 There is no 'guy's lexicon' that every guy uses. Words mean different things to different people. That's why humans have such trouble communicating.
lost_in_chgo Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Then why did they hand out official lexicons at the last world-wide guy meeting? Huh? Huh?
elijahBailey Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 It's a case of sematics. But it works somethin' like this.... HOT = Sexy = I wouldn't mind doing you and I think the sex would be 2nd to none. eg. AJ, Monica Belucci, Eva Longoria. Beautiful = Pretty = Gorgeous = Classy= I can look at you all day. The sex may not necessarily be as great as the above, but with looks like yours, who cares about the sex. Eg. Ingrid Bergman, Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman Cute = doesn't belong to any of the definitions above, but you still get our attention. Don't get me wrong, you're still up there on the scale. eg. Lucy Liu, Reese Witherspoon
elijahBailey Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 well. please explain the difference!! you mean between HOT and Sexy? Well, HOT > Sexy in weight.
Author housebaby Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 There is no 'guy's lexicon' that every guy uses. Words mean different things to different people. That's why humans have such trouble communicating. Exactly, that's why I am asking what YOU PERSONALLY would define these things as...obviously what you think is hot wouldn't be the same thing for someone else. Just trying to get some opinions here...nothing is set in stone.

Author housebaby Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 For me there is levels: 1) FINE, HOT, SEXY, GORGEOUS= You make me melt - and think naughty thoughts, would love to do naughty things with you (ie/ ANDY CALDWELL Jessie Metcalfe, David Beckham, Ryan Phillippe) 2) Handsome, Attractive, = Your looks get my attention and could definitely go further (ie/Brad Pitt, Will Smith, Nick Lachey) 3) Cute, Good-Looking = You have something, but not everything - I could still go further (ie/Leonardo Dicarprio, Jude Law)

Author housebaby Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 Mmmmmm! I just love hairy men! you are definitely DO-ABLE!!
Author housebaby Posted September 29, 2005 Author Posted September 29, 2005 wrong. you're CUTE CUTE CUTE right on....thanks? cant beat a triple threat ~
TnT Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Here are some of my thoughts from what i have encounted... Ok, in a club i get called HOT, Sexy etc etc due to the dancing. My BF calls me HOT, Sexy, Georgous, everything under the sun... A gay friend of mine calls me Cute and Beautiful... When my hair is straight, my girls call me Sexy and Hot... If walking down the st and i get approached or whatever, i get called Classy and Beautiful. So, IMO it depends on the situation. I can be looking the same on the st, in a cafe, or in a club, and will get called diff things due to the environment and the mentality of the men in the surroundings... I hope that all made sense to someone....
Lishy Posted September 29, 2005 Posted September 29, 2005 Elijah lets get married an have lil baby monkeys!!!!! You are SEXY!
elijahBailey Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 Elijah lets get married an have lil baby monkeys!!!!! You are SEXY! I know I am, but thanks for the affirmation
RecordProducer Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 My loving and passionate BF of one year tells me all the time that I am cute and often that I am beautiful. When he first saw me he told me "You are absolutely gorgeous!" He very rarely uses the word "sexy" and it's usually after we've sexually teased each other online. He never says "hot." I personally find these two words more appropriate when guys talk among each other about some girl - i.e. when she is not around. If I were a guy, I would only use the word "cute." It's just such a cuuuuuuuuuuuuute word!
elijahBailey Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 When my hair is straight, my girls call me Sexy and Hot... no way they're straight
TnT Posted September 30, 2005 Posted September 30, 2005 LOL.... ill leave that one up to ur imagination:eek:
