I had a subbing job at a suburb of my city in the high school. When the students come in and out of the place, I would go out in the hallway and watch them in the waves coming to and fro. (I saw some other teachers in rooms nearby do this so I knew to do this as well.) I saw another teacher from one of the rooms nearby and he said hello in passing. He threw something away in a garbage can I was standing near. He turned to me and said there was nothing worse than biting into an apple that has gone bad. I said "That's nasty!" And he said it was, and then he walked away. I had them for a few periods then I come out into the hallway and see him again in passing. I said hello. He asked if I sub here a lot, I said yes I do. He told me his first name, and I told him my first and last. He said he always sees that name on the sub lists for the day in the office (as in mine). I said "Well, yes I sub here quite a bit." (Which is true now.) He said he will keep me in mind as he might need a sub coming up soon - as in specifically request me? Maybe ...

He was quite cute. This time I went over to his room at the end of the day and made sure to note his last name. I went home and Googled him. It made me sad though because he's 29 and I'm about to be 45. I don't look my age and I don't act like it either. I felt a little spark for him, but ... If he knew how old I was he wouldn't look twice at an old woman like me.

Just wanted to share...

And it's wise to not poop where you eat anyway. Glad you've got a bit of networking happening there.

I am curious to know what you perceive a 45yo to be doing in terms of acting their age ;)

It's nice to be reminded we can still feel a spark though!

It's OK to make a friend...

It is possible that this guy might have a single older friend he could introduce you to.
