What the heck? There doesn't seem to be many guys on Match.. Does it show everyone, that you search for?? I did a search in New York, New York, for men aged 25 to 39 and got shown 271 results. That doesn't seem much??

 

No, it doesn't seem like much. This is match.com, right? I got 2000+ (the max that Match reports) as woman seeking men 25 to 39 within 5 miles (minimum value allowed) of zip 10001. And I've got 11 filters on that restrict my hits. (gad - some butt ugly dudes - if these guys are my competition, I don't see why da chicks ain't flocking to me)

@nospam99, yea I think it was match.com. I hadn't paid for a subscription though, maybe that affects things. I tried it on an actual computer as apposed to my phone, and it wouldn't even let me search anywhere, besides my current city.

 

I don't actually live in NYC, so maybe that had an effect...

Hey Meadow, if you're willing to post a zip code (or PM it to me to keep it a little more secure) I'll do a search on Match. Also specify age range. But if your area is 'small enough', the 271 hits you reported will probably come up for me, too. To be fair, I live in what can be called the 'extended' suburbs of NYC. My experience with search results is based on where I live. Even 'out here in the sticks' most of the hits I get on my searches are closer to NYC. So I can understand if someone is far enough from a large population center ANY OLD is going to give less results.

 

For reference, my default search uses a bunch of filters (no smokers, no fatties, etc, etc) and my age range is 57-67. I use a 36 mile radius because 'my lost love' was that far away. Like I said, most of my hits are closer to NYC. At 36 miles, I just got 792 hits. When I change the radius to 10 miles, I get 88 hits. That was Match. POF limits the result set to 70 hits on a search. At 10 miles on POF (age range 53 to 67) I consistently get the same 70 women, most of whom I recognize as having been there for more than a year and many also in the 88 on Match.

I have a written profile and 4 current photos. My profile is a word document that I have been tweaking over the years. I never have to think off the top of my head. I just use a standard one and then tweak it for the things like interest that current for me today.

 

My search is set up for men 40 to 63 within 10 miles of me. This morning there are 305 matches. I've had 7 messages so far and like I said a date tonight with the one that actually asked me out. The youngest was 29! Shot him down right away... lol.... The oldest is 63. Most of them are out of the 10 mile range the furthest away is about 250 miles. I shot him down too! My profile says I am looking for someone within 10 miles. lol...
