My friends told me to join Tinder as I want to meet someone. I joined this summer as I had more free time. I just find the process very time consuming having to swipe which seems superficial and most people do not put bios on which shows they are only there for a laugh or hook ups.

I have met 2 guys, the first one seemed ok but was insecure as he was constantly texting me. He then ghosted me as he was stressed out with moving house and looking after his daughters this summer but for some reason could not tell me this. The second one was nice and seemed normal in his messages and when I met him he told me he has anxiety which I don't have a problem with as I have been there. He showed signs of low self esteem as he kept telling me about all of the people who had rejected him and dwelling on bad past times. I want a partner, not a project.

I have tried meetup.com groups which I know is for friends and I made friends but as for dating some people seem a bit weird. I want to meet someone who is into spirituality and hiking so I don't know if I should join a dedicated site or meet in real life as I found I had more success that way.

Then get off of Tinder which is a site mostly for hookups and casual sex relationships.

Get on a reputable dating site and post in your profile what you are looking for. Place restrictions on your profile that will block anyone looking for casual or friends. Serious people are not looking for just friends (of the platonic kind) on dating sites. If they post for "friends" most times they mean FWB or FB.

Tinder is ... Not good for meeting people. I met one guy off of it, he was and still is a friend. But don't have high expectations with it, after more experiences I realized I was lucky to have met him.

I'm sure there are hiking groups you can join and meet someone organically.
