She basically pulled the same thing...cold, blah blah blah. Just to confirm my suspicions and gut feeling, and after a brief search, which is very easy to do these days, I found her on social media. Low and behold, she had posted a pic out having cocktails with a couple of her girlfriends, looking like she was feeling quite well actually...go figure.

I played my cards close to my vest, laid low and remained silent. When she reached out after that, I never even responded back.

I just read a post you made on another guys post about online dating where you mocked him for focusing his time in the wrong areas basically he simply checked a girls online status.

But here you admit to doing the same if not more??

You guys need to chill!! It’s ok for someone to postpone a date in favour of their mates , they don’t tell you they did that and instead give an excuse of a cold because clearly some people can’t handle being second best? Women’s intuition maybe??

In your case the girl did flake in favour of a likeky impromptu girls night out. So what?

And then you dismiss her when she tries to reschedule?

She was NOT on social media on a date with another guy ffs.

Shame you didn’t respond. Because it sounded like she was interested. If you hadn’t stalked her social media, who knows what would have happened?!

It's been 48 hours since I heard from him last, I am just going to let this go and move on. Shame but that's life. And other examples like the girl who said she had a cold and was caught on social media doing otherwise? Well, I guess that can and does happen but I am not thinking he is out having fun without me. I'll just close the book and move on.

That's all you can do but I'm just curious. Had you been in contact with him about everyday?

More or less yes. Maybe slipped away or so once since transferred to texting on our phones outside of the app.

I'm normally not an advocate of game playing. But if you want him to respect your time, you need him to feel the other side.

I'd text him Sun and say "My friends invited me out tonight and I accepted because you've been so sick. What's your schedule like next week?"

Show him you'll walk away at anytime and you'll never be treated like am option again.

Are you really giving this advice to a woman?

The guy she's referencing has the abundance mentality. He doesn't care if she walks away because she's easily replaceable.

Yep , nothing like starting of a future romance with lots of games is there eh.

I am also not an advocate of game playing (I didn't respond to this branch of the thread until now), but it doesn't matter. I never heard from him again so that's that. Next.

It was (still is) Labor Day weekend and he texted me an hour ago or so asking how my weekend was. Do I respond? I have a feeling this will be one of those situations where we'll text forever and never meet.

He's a time waster and a dud.

In my book it depends, what did he have to say , anything about the cold and how that is, if it is, or any apologies ?

Posted

OP, did you or did you not instruct him to reach out when he was feeling better? Isn't that exactly what he did? What's your problem? Was there a deadline that you didn't tell him about? Nine day delay? Lighten up! (Y'all too alpha, HL, and Ruby.)

I agree with nospam, I don't think you have to be quite so hardcore.

Certainly don't have any great expectations (with him or anyone else) until you have met and maybe gotten together a few times. Try to have a more casual attitude about it in these early stages. After a few dates if he's still being flakey then ditch him. But for now I don't see any particular reason to write him off.

He ****ing texted her, and gave her a sinking feeling. Lame ass punk!

^^^ HE 'gave' HER a 'sinking feeling'? Is he Professor X? I try not to refer to posters' previous threads. But in this case, I'll recall that OP tends to show a negative attitude when men she CONTACTS (correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think they've MET yet) don't 'push all her buttons' on her schedule. Yes, a week and a half delay is longer than most. But especially if the person in question has a minor illness, IMHO it's far below the threshold of 'lame ass punk'.

Footnote for those unaware: Professor X is a character in the X-men comic books and movies. His superpower is the ability to control the thoughts, feelings, and memories of other people, including most superheroes and supervillains.
