Sam2020 Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 Just joined OLD He invites me to lunch today, I say okay. Then he says 3 p.m. at a place closer to me (His is a 20 minute drive, mine is a 10 minute drive) I message asking if we can do lunch around noon (that's lunch time imo) because traffic gets horrible after 2:30. Crickets. So maybe he's turned off by me not wanting to "sacrifice" driving in traffic. I don't know. I did not mention in my message that I wanted to be home by 5 since I'm expecting guests around then. I really hate to go online a second time and explain. Seems desperate. And if sometime like that turns him off then perhaps he's not a patient type of guy. Thoughts?
d0nnivain Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 If you haven't head from him I think you need to confirm that the whole thing is off or you are going to be sitting in a restaurant by yourself at noon & then he's going to be annoyed when he shows up 3. That said if it's only a 10 minute drive, despite bad traffic you should have just sucked it up. You still could have met with him for a nosh & been home by 5.
Mrin Posted July 2, 2019 Posted July 2, 2019 OP's post in food: I called up a local pizzaria and asked if they make deep dish Chicago pizza. They said yes. I said, "great! Hey do you make it gluten free? Because gluten gives me a big headache". The guy on the phone said, "hey, let me check and call you back". I said, "okay!". They haven't called back yet. I'm really hungry and really wanted deep dish Chicago pizza. Think I should just go get sushi instead? Moral of the story: If you want Chicago deep dish pizza, you should call them back. If you would rather have sushi, go somewhere else. 1

Yeah I would not have gone to the restaurant without confirmation. And I agree with your assessment. I should have. In any case, he did message me back and we're all good.
