Noticed a fake profile for sure on match today. Two new users with the same and similar profile photos and list different heights for each and professions.

I mean on match I've maybe sent close to 150 hundred messages since April when I signed up. I'd say maybe 90 or so were seen the rest never read or fake profiles that are suddenly deleted. @crispytoast While OP as he presents himself on LS and in this thread is someone I'd be reluctant to introduce to a female friend, the main issue I have with this thread is anti-Match claims unsupported by links to references. I'm not a huge fan of Match. But, because of participation, it's simply the most effective dating site where I live. And I expect that 'ranking' varies with location. But I recall repeated claims about bot profiles and lawsuits against Match in this thread. If those claims are true, folks, there ought to be news stories about it online. Post links to those stories.

 

On the other hand, I'll make claims about inactive profiles on Match without posting a link. My basis is my own personal experience AND the circumstance that anyone can sign up for a free Match account, do a Search themselves, look at the activity indicators, and see for themselves. I just looked: on the first screen of my search by Reverse Match, 5 of the 6 profiles show as inactive. And the site does not provide a setting to filter by activity (BTW, POF does).

 

Another example of what seems to be a supportable claim is 'community wisdom'. Is Tinder a hookup site? That goes back and forth and may vary by where in the WORLD the person is. But in the US, it's pretty much accepted that Tinder is for hookups and people shouldn't be surprised when almost all the connections they get there are looking for sex.

 

But lawsuits? Come on! IF there really is a lawsuit, post a link to verify that.

 

And as long as I'm ranting about Match, there are complaints about pricing. I just had to re-up my account. I found a 'deal' online that only costs $12/month. I'll be tacking on read notification and I have to pay NY sales tax. But it's still costing me less than $20/month. It pays to shop AND Match is more than competitively priced with paid sites like ourtime and elite.

Also the other poster regarding match, I think it depends on location too. Last night I saw 3 profiles that were new and seemed pretty fake. It sucks having to shift thru that crap. Fl has a ton of scammers though due to the age population hoping to scam old men. This is the other problem. I'm having to message women 50-60 miles away due to the lack of women in my age range within a 60 mile radius. So I'm basically screwed unless someone is looking long distance. Not much offline. Around here there are not a lot of places to meet young people. Like 4th of July I went down to see the fireworks at the Warf and again mostly older people 50 and over.
