I don't know how to post this without sounding really immature. I have recently got back into contact with someone who I dated a few years ago and I really like him. More than I did when we dated.

Other than him living miles away there is another problem - his mouth has permenant thick saliva at the sides or crusty white round the sides. I only get this in the morning when I've been ill and slept with my mouth open, or I've eaten something stickt like a lollipop.

It's making me reluctant to want to kiss him. Think the stereotypical kid in a film with braces and saliva connecting it all. Well it's not quite that bad.

I did last time we dated, but only once and I remember tasting really thick clumpy saliva and I couldn't bring myself to kiss him again. I thought that I was being immature but now that I have seen him again I'm too scared. How can I even bring this subject up? I know someone who also has this but far worse and she is married. A teacher in school was the same and he was known for having affairs with like 5 people.

What do I do? I sound so petty, but it grosses me out.

Thanks

I used to get that when I was little. I have a dairy allergy (nasal symptoms - not digestive intolerance) and liquid milk was pushed really hard through the WIC program. I was a total mouth-breather until my parents figured out that I shouldn't be drinking milk.

I wouldn't date a chronic mouth-breather. I was grossed out enough by my own experience of being one. Might feel shallow about it, but wouldn't be able to do it.

I don't know why we are having this conversation....move on. And btw you are not being petty...oral hygiene is important...I can't imagine him not noticing it, and wouldn't do something about it. most people would be self conscious am I right?
