My boyfriend has started the process of deal with counseling and stuff in the form of psychiatristists. He's also open to meds I'm also getting counseling but for other unrelated issues I’m so glad you have close friends to support you and you are getting help. <3 That’s wonderful!! I’m glad your boyfriend is open to getting help too. I’ll continue to pray for you two this week.

Had a moment of clarity and the relationship is completely back to how it was before. Affectionate and with no issues. I don't think it was a compatibility thing. We never intentionally tried to start a relationship so it wasn't like he was seeking one. It never happened on purpose. And we were together before he was depressed. The relationship is not cause of the depression since it was there long before the depression. There are trillions of more likely causes for the depression then the relationship.
Redhead14 Posted May 24, 2019 Posted May 24, 2019 When one party in a relationship is struggling with an "issue", be it depression, alcoholism, drug addiction, the hard reality is that BOTH parties/the family are dealing with it. If he is making an effort to address his depression and you want to try to work through it with him, it will be important for you to get into counseling as well, not as intensive as he would be, but counseling will help you process the affect it's having on you and you will get tools to help you help him which can help you feel less helpless as well. It is above your skillset to know how to help a partner who is depressed, so you can't do it alone.
