I graduated high school a year early and went to college on more than a full ride. I paid my own rent through the extra money. My parents didn't have to pay a dime. The only money my Dad gave me the whole time was $100 toward a mattress. (I was sleeping on the floor in my apartment). This was a few years ago, but I just found out that my Dad's been telling people that he "practically owns 1/4 of the College".

I'm probably being petty, but I was always proud of the way I had made it on my own. All I said was, "Hey! I got a full ride!" and let it go, but I'm still kinda angry.

didn't you come from his loins and he raised you so even though you got a full ride the college is still getting the money and therfore the money in a way comes from your dad and his son.

Cut him a break .. He wants to feel important and wants to feel some success from your growing up ..

We all have to turn a blind eye towards some things our parents say and do ..

I know, he did a great job teaching me as a kid, so in a way I wouldn't have been able to get a scholarship without him. There have been money issues between my Dad and I since my parents divorced, and I get pretty upset about it sometimes. :o
