Author JS17 Posted September 22, 2005 Author Posted September 22, 2005 Seriously I would try a slightly older style of dress .. That should open the eyes of the older crowd You know I was kidding about the Care Bears tshirt. I think I'll take both of your advice and try some new boring older places. I don't know what older women wear, I'll have to find out...I don't want to dress like my mom
Woggle Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I use to live in NYC and while it is a fun and exciting place it is not the best place to find a meaningful relationship for a men or a woman.

I know that, I keep dating guys from the suburbs. They're not much better. I may consider a move anyway to try out a different career. You're not the first man I've heard say that either.
Art_Critic Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 D: or just become old spinsters and chase after young guys. This of course means we have to have lots of money and be sugar mommas to support our habit There is some truth to this convo.. But remember the Alpha type of guy that has commitment issues are out there but not every older guy is like that..If a guy hangs out in bar picking up younger girls then he is a comminment phoebe bar fly and not worth your time anyhow I never date under 10 yrs younger than me because of maturity issues. And you won't find me in a bar .. I'm busy with my carreer and my homelife and don't hang out anywhere specific.. I do belong to a hiking club... and there are alway's alot of single people in these types of clubs.. You get get like 12 more cats and become the cat lady

Outcast Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Person asks what to do to find older men. Gets good suggestions. Rejects them all. If you won't go other places or dress differently, then expect more of the same. Insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results.
alphamale Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Insanity is doing the same thing repeatedly and expecting different results. Is this the 7th time this week you've used this lame saying, OUTCAST?
Outcast Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Well you go tell Albert Einstein it's lame, oh guru of finding lifetime companions.

Merin Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Hmm.. Well JS I can understand where you're at.. Amazingly enough the following happened to me last week... so I go to pick my baby girl up from Kindergarten which happens to be across the street from the High School... I pull into the parking lot and I have 2 High School boys walk over to my car... "Hey Giirrrlll!" "Whats your name?" OMG I was standing there in disbelief! Told them I was there to pick up my Daughter from Kindergarten! Sheesh! I wasn't sure if I should feel flattered, embarrased or mad... Eventually JS, you're going to met the right Guy... and with any luck, he won't be living with his Mom and Dad and asking you to go to prom! JK JK JK! Hang in there!
Art_Critic Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I pull into the parking lot and I have 2 High School boys walk over to my car... "Hey Giirrrlll!" "Whats your name?" .... But Merin.. They are in their sexual prime
Woggle Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 If you have long hair cut it shorter. You will look older.
alphamale Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I think I'll take both of your advice and try some new boring older places. ( "older folk" usually hang out at the more high-end bars and restaurants cause they can afford it. they pull up in their jaguars, wearing Armani suits and sipping vodka martinis made with Belvedere vodka at $12 per pop + tip. This is where you'll also find golddiggerus americanus....
Merin Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 .... But Merin.. They are in their sexual prime Bah! LOL It's just an odd thing for me I suppose.. I'm there chillin with my Wee Peeps and have High School Boys hitting on me... WTF! Then My oldest is always giving me a hard time about it... Damn punk asses!
Outcast Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Actually Outcast, I did say Quote: I think I'll take both of your advice and try some new boring older places. I don't know what older women wear, I'll have to find out...I don't want to dress like my mom Yeah I saw that. I didn't take that long to type that but I was making my coffee. Before I hit 'submit reply, there were a heap o' answers including yours. As for looking 'older', it's not a matter of looking like your mom. Just add a bit more sophistication. Black pants rather than jeans - or even black jeans if you must. But stick on a skirt or dress (and certainly the skirts in most stores would not be worn by your mom ) and a nice top that's appropriate to your age and older guys will be interested. Unless you're frequenting western bars, jeans say 'I'm just a kid' when you're out on the town.

Unless you're frequenting western bars, jeans say 'I'm just a kid' when you're out on the town. Seriously, I wore a hot skirt and killer heels out on my birthday and got hit on by a 23 year old. He was in shock when he found out how old I was turning. The look on their faces was priceless. I will take your advice and start foregoing the jeans...even though it makes me sad to do so. I do want to say that while it would be nice, my goal in life is not to meet a man, and my original question was supposed to be why the heck do guys think I'm so much younger than I am rather than how do I meet older men but I could see how the title of the thread would pull that assumption. Ok, Merin, a couple of weeks ago I was walking down the street after work running errands and some kid, I swear not older than 11 or 12, came up to me and said "hey baby. what are you up to?". I didn't want to laugh in his face but I was hysterically laughing on the inside. I mean I know I look young but 12?!?!?! Side note, I don't remember who wrote to cut my hair short but I did have long hair and last year I cut it short, slightly longer than chin length. Seriously, it made me look younger! But it fits me better so I kept it. I think looking your age has a lot to do with your skin and it's one of the few genetic blessings I got. My mom's side of the family has the most phenominal skin.
TUDOR Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Now a days you have younger guys pursuing older women thanks to Movies like American Pie where Stiffler's mom was the milf and s*** brick's trophy lay. Then there is Ashton who has been banging Demi, the list goes on. So many of them have this preconcieved notion that an older women is a sex machine just looking for some young meat thanks to what is being pushed on that age group in the media, TV, etc, etc. Can you avoid a younger generation hitting on you all together, no...but maybe you need to make your move and go after these more mature men you seek instead of waiting for them to come to you. A mature man may see these younger guys swarming you and not bother, but if you walk right past that young crowd and right up to Mr. Mature then you will get his attention.

Art_Critic Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 Seriously, I wore a hot skirt and killer heels out on my birthday and got hit on by a 23 year old. Js.. An older woman doesn't wear a HOT skirt and killer heels to find decent guys.. They wear something like Outcast had said.. Something sophisticated .. But not necesarily HOT sophisticated is HOT to an older guy

Oh Tudor, I hate to say this but I am terrible at approaching men. I just have no skill nor perception of looks, age, etc. and I never know what to say. I seriously thank my lucky stars that I don't have a problem with getting men to approach me. I know this is a cop out. I'm super fun once I know someone or am introduced but complete strangers are a problem. What can I say, I suck

I'll admit though that I may not do the sophisticated deal enough on other nights but on that night I could wear whatever I wanted to!
littlekitty Posted September 22, 2005 Posted September 22, 2005 I know just how you feel!!! I'm 30 in 3 months time. I drive a nice car, dress my age - fashionably so though! But I always get hit on by young guys. Doesn't matter where I go or what I'm doing. I think the fact that I'm fairly short and petite, added to the fact that I have great skin, means I don't look my age. I'm only 5'2" and a UK 6/8. I've had everything from 10 year olds to school boys trying it on. Any time I go out, guaranteed I'll get hit on by a completely drunk 18 yr old. I always feel like WTF???? I'm like old enough to be your mother!! And if I'm not I sure feel it!!! As it happens I was lucky enough to find a guy my own age, who looks about 5 years younger too!!
