Do you think there should be a law that forbids certain guys from dating? Such as men with a past history of abuse whether physical or verbal.

I think if there was a way to psychologically screen men early in life to determine who is most likely to become abusive husbands or which guys are at risk of going postal over a rejection then that psychological doumentation could be presented to a Judge and he could issue a court order making it illegal for those men to ask women out for dates.

There can be a national registry and if those men violate the court order and ask a woman out then they will be thrown in jail for a very long time.

Dating is not for everybody and a small segment of the male population is not eligible for dating. Just like we have a sex offender registry as certain folks are not eligible to have any contact with children.

In a perfect world, they'd be diagnosed early, in childhood and before legal age, and put in mandatory therapy long-term, but in reality they simply are not going to stop just because it's illegal, because they're messed up and already criminals. The other reality about therapy for kids is it does no good unless they do whole-family therapy because the kid didn't get there by living with June and Ward Cleaver. You'd get a lot of kickback on that. Discipline in school without parent approval would be what I'd go back to because if the parents are raising a violent kid, at least the school used to be able to show some of them they can't get away with that everywhere.

Look how many people don't even go to their court dates and have outstanding warrants for years at a time before they're caught. Look at how many people are given restraining orders and ignore them and just keep up the abuse.

Unfortunately, the big problem is lack of space in jails or prisons and so we see even violent offenders walk right out of court and go kill or maim someone.

I cannot see what you are suggesting there working. I mean something like that would open a huge can of worms in my opinion

Surely the emphasis should be on reform and rehabilitation from an early age, better focus on proper education.

Some draconian law like you outline I could never see that being a runner.

Just a completely different point then ,

How come there is a tendency for many women to be attracted to "violent and abusive types of men"

and the nicer quiet guys get left behind nobody ever noticing them.

Sure. But let's do the same thing for women who are verbally and physically abusive, cheating, stalkers, castration and financial infidelity.

I've always felt that people should go through psychological evaluation at the age of 12 in order to catch negative tendencies early and create pathways to resolving issues before they metastasize and calcify into destructive behaviors that will impact their peace of mind when they're grown. So many people can't seem to deal with setbacks and disappointment--or think that life has a guarantee that they're owed what they want when they want it and life doesn't and never has worked that way.

^ It sure wouldn't hurt. By fifth grade, which is what, about 10, teachers can tell who the criminals are going to be. But again, you can't change a kid if you can't also counsel the parents, and usually they are not going to be willing and will be in denial and be fine with what the kid is doing and enabling him because he's modeled after them.

Not everyone can be rehabilitated in this life or even wants to be. Children have a will of their own and there comes a time when it is up them to do most of the work. Therapists and psychologists can only do so much. They are not police officers who can force their patients to comply and change.

yeah, well, I don't subscribe to this defeatist attitude.

It's not about a defeatest attitude. It is about the fact that people gotta want change on their own.

No, I do not think there should be such a law.

Why do you think that? Dating is a privilege not a right just like driving. There are legal stipulations for driving privileges for a reason. Why should it be different with dating?

Nah man, that's some Minority Report stuff. It's up to people to do their own due diligence in relationships. We have enough societal control without legislating a governmental white knight policy.
