If he was serious and marriage minded is it wrong he suggested being physical?

I meant to add this as a q's but the post was deleted to my previous post that those who read it know. My recent ex bf who was "head over heels" for me as he said, constnatly always calling, texting, said was looking to get married because he's 33, settled in career and looking for a wife. We're both traditional and Armenian and in our culture a girl is to remain a virgin until marriage if she's pure. Anyway, My ex knew this from day one and although he never suggested sex he did talk about physical interaction a lot, he also initiated touching down there, oral sex...This has kind of made me doubt, if he was looking for a good girl and wife to take home is it odd and fishy that he suggested and did these things and even once saying don't wear panties with your skirt when we go out today? We always had fights for the two months we were together and he always made up with me, after every fight i broke up with him. So the fact that "the straw that broke the camel's back" where he didn't try anymore kind of lead me to question that aspect of it?
