mortensorchid Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 I was invited to a party this evening. It was through Facebook on a general blast to a lot of theater people in the city, it seems to be at someone's house. I don't know the hosts. Should I go? I wa t to try to network myself into other circles and meet new people but it's not like going to a public place (bar, restaurant, etc.). Plus I don't think I will know a single person there.
Happy Lemming Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Someone's house you don't know and you won't know anyone else there?? I'd worry about that being safe. If it were at a venue like a meeting or banquet room at a hotel, I'd say go; but someone's house you don't know or know any of the other guests, I'd be a little leery.
nospam99 Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Go with a friend. Arrange with the friend to blow it off early and do something else if you both aren't enjoying.
CautiouslyOptimistic Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 I wouldn't. I'd be afraid of it being too small a crowd and everyone else knowing each other. 1
edgygirl Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 Nothing to lose. I'd go. Theater people sounds fun and you can meet tons of people. We have to stop relying only on OLD and try other things. If there's a bad vibe excuse yourself and leave after 15 minutes.
basil67 Posted January 6, 2019 Posted January 6, 2019 I'd go. Make sure to open and engaging - you may find a boost to your friendship circle or love life. 1
Malin889 Posted January 7, 2019 Posted January 7, 2019 Go but if you feel uncomfortable, leave. Stay safe- don’t drink too much where you might lose your inhibitions.
Author mortensorchid Posted January 7, 2019 Author Posted January 7, 2019 I ended up not going. Ah well, it's okay.
