tulip1989 Posted January 2, 2019 Posted January 2, 2019 Twice a year my family has a big reunion with family friends - I'm 28 and one of the girls at the reunion is 29. I've known her my whole life, but never really spent one on one time together. She is absolutely beautiful, but I've never entertained the idea of getting with her basically because she's always had boyfriends etc. I wouldn't say I've ever fancied her, just acknowledged that she is objectively very, very good looking. This time at the reunion, she was single. We talked a lot and she was very tactile with me, sitting on my lap, holding my hand, touching me, talking a lot. My mom was there and apparently she'd said to her about how lovely she thought I was. There was lots of booze flowing and she has a very open personality, so I didn't think much of it until much later, when she ended up coming back to my apartment for a few drinks with a few others, then getting in to my bed and coming on to me really hard. I was a little hesitant at first because she was quite drunk, and had been talking a bit earlier about how she was single and playing the field etc. etc. Soon enough though I thought I'd have to be mad to pass up an opportunity like this, so we did the deed. We hung out a little the next morning. She was still fairly affectionate and we talked about how it was kind of unexpected. I made her some breakfast and When we parted ways she said 'guess I'll see you next time then'. I gave her a kiss on the cheek and she left. I text her that evening just saying that I had fun, although it was very unexpected...she said 'hey, yeah very random', and I replied saying 'random, yeah, but great. See you soon I hope x', and that was the end. this was a little over 10 days ago, and she's been on vacation since then. I probably wouldn't expect a lot of texting while she's away. I'm still not sure if it was just a random hookup or there's potential for something more. I'm fine with either but I'm not sure if I should interpret the brevity of her message as a brush off and just let it go, or if I should explore the possibility of going further by asking her over for a drink in the next couple weeks. I always worry about coming off needy, but I've been told before that in trying not to appear keen, I come off as aloof and arrogant a lot of the time. Trouble is, its a very difficult situation to read.

Author tulip1989 Posted January 8, 2019 Author Posted January 8, 2019 I think most likely I will just see if she wants to come and join me and some friends for a few drinks when I'm out and about. I will keep it spontaneous and short notice. A nice middle-ground between asking her on a date (too invested), and asking her over for a drink (too obvious a pretext for sex). Aside from the obvious she is lots of fun to hang out with, so maybe I can create another situation like that and see if we end up in bed again
