lookit
I have been with my husband for 15 years (met in high school) and married for almost 5. Since the day we met, he has had problems, but I figured they would get better as he "grew up". To make a VERY long story short, he became addicted to narcotic pain pills over the past few years and finally OD'd a week after my daughter was born. That was over a year ago, and since then he has been in treatment for depression and drug abuse. Here is the problem...I thought that once he got help he would begin to love and appreciate me. Instead he is slowly bringing back the narcs, hasn't worked in a year and doesn't plan to, we have no sex at all, and he treats me like dirt. Hmmm...why are we together? He is a good father to our daughter, and I will feel like a home wrecker if I leave him. Anyone have any experience with this??
bluechocolate
I thought that once he got help he would begin to love and appreciate me. Instead he is slowly bringing back the narcs, hasn't worked in a year and doesn't plan to, we have no sex at all, and he treats me like dirt. It doesn't sound like he was serious about getting help this time. For most people it takes many attempts before successfully giving up an addiction. Hmmm...why are we together? He is a good father to our daughter, and I will feel like a home wrecker if I leave him. You need to re-think that. Firstly, being a good father means also being a good husband. Your daughter deserves to grow up in a happy home with a father who can provide for her & set a good example. Secondly, it's his behaviour which is wrecking your home, not yours. It's just possible that by staying you're enabling him to continue living his life in this manner. Some people really do need shock treatment.
