I'm pretty average, I'm 5'3", 125. But I have huge thighs, my thighs are what make me weigh so much. They are mostly muscle, but there is a medium amount of fat around them. My thighs rub together, and the spread way out when I sit down. It drives me crazy. Does anyone know what I can do to tone them?

Walk, walk, walk, and walk some more.

If you want to lose weight you have to boost your exercise and lower your intake a bit.

You'll burn 1000-1500 calories a day doing nothing, walk 3 miles will burn another 500 or so. So take in about 1000 calories a day, balanced. Walk 6 miles a day. You'll have a 1000-1500 calorie deficit for each day and lose about 2 pounds a week.

Running is likely to develop your calf muscles, walking tones your thighs more, from what I've found.

Cheat and it will take longer.

Hmm I'm 5'3", and 130. My thighs are thick but I wouldnt describe them as overly large. Then again, everyone has their weight distributed differently, different bone structures, muscle weighs more than fat, etc. I have a feeling that your thighs will be thick porportionately to your body no matter what you do...its just your genes. Of course if you lose weight over all, your legs will get smaller...

...but this doesn't seem like a healthy plan. I thought 1000 calories a day is a bit extreme? But maybe I'm wrong.

I know many, many guys who like thick legs. I know you are going to say that YOU dont like them, but I just have a feeling that no amount of diet/exercise is going to change the general fact that you have big legs.

Sorry if I didn't help...just wanted to say something as a fellow thick-thighed girl....;)

Liposuction?

If your thighs are all muscle then try pilates. It will help you lengthen your muscles.

That may just be where your weight is distributed. Learn to love 'em. ;)

Not medical advice for sure, but the normal diet say 1200 calories, and workout 3 days a week for a man. She's 5'3", 125, so a bit lessr would be too much I'd think.

I did alot less (500-1000/day) and 9-12 miles a day and lost 60 lbs in 3 months(270->210), but it was extreme. Some of that was just cleaning out the system, so when I started eating regular again, about 15 when right back on and I gained another 10 over the next year. But the other 35 is still gone after 2 years.

The usual recommendation is a pound a week, but at that rate you might as well not bother.

Her thighs are like 2 yards across (j/k) from what she said, so she'll have to walk alot and extra on ice cream days.

Nah, not that big. My whole hand can cover them, so I'm not to that point yet.

They're probably not as big as you think they are. People tell my that they are not big, but I think they are.
