Should I tell her not to text me?

So there is this one lady I correspond with from an online dating site. I gave her my phone number only because I don't think it is appropriate to ask for a woman's number from online dating site as I am a total stranger. She has no way of verifying at this time that I'm not some creepy psycho. I wouldn't want my female cousins giving out their number to strangers online so I don't ask for women's numbers until we have a chance to meet face to face.

 

So she has been texting me about 3 or 4 times a day since last weekend. How do I tell her that I don't want her texting me unless it is an emergency? We have a meeting set up for the Monday after Thanksgiving.

Well, the chances of someone you've never met needing to inform you of an emergency (other than a need to cancel) are slim to none, so I wouldn't phrase it that way. Go with

 

'I'm sorry, I'm really not a big texter, and would prefer that we save some things to talk about for when we actually meet, so don't be offended if I dont text back. If our plans need to change, we can discuss it via text. Otherwise, I'll check in with you to confirm a day or so before our date'.

 

She would annoy tf out of me too, so don't feel bad. There's nothing more off putting than texts such as 'hey, you wouldn't believe the size of the crap my dog took today'.

 

If she takes it the wrong way, she's either a needy clinger, or one of those who's just looking for a pen pal, and you've lost nothing.

 

 

Good on you for giving out your number as opposed to asking for the woman's. That's a nice touch.
