I'm not sure where this thread belongs, but I need an opinion from you men out there.

And NO....the title does not refer to what you think it does...get your minds out of the gutter. LOL

I'm thinking of cutting my hair short. My reasons are varied. One, I'm tired of fooling with all the time it takes to fix my hair in the morning, and time is a precious commodity these days for me. Two, I think my hair is just not looking good long any more. Its damaged from coloring and styling. Three, I'm ready for something new.

But, I have real issues wondering about my attractiveness with short hair. Personally, I've been told I look really good with short hair - by women. But, most men seem to prefer long hair. EVEN if that long hair looks ratty or not flattering to the face type...guys tend to like it long. Or at least the guys I know.

My ex husband thought my cutting my hair short was a tragedy second only in magnitude to my getting fat.

I'm wondering...are there any guys out there who find women with short hair sexy?

I love long hair..

A girl I have dating recently has really short hair and at time I don't think it does her justice.. Her face is beautiful and would great with long hair.

One of the first thing that comes to mind when

I see a girl with short hair is.. that it looks dykey ( is that a word ? )

Long hair all the way ..

It gives us something to pull on !!

Well, thanks Art. I guess I was hoping for a different answer, but I kinda knew that was the response I would get. :)

And you also reminded me of something else...Having my hair pulled really turns me on...

Now if I could only find someone to pull on it.

Personally, I'm not partial to one or the other. A beautiful woman is a beautiful woman. I think it depends on what you define as short. I think shoulder length or even just below the ear length can be really sexy depending on how you rock it. As long as there's some style there i.e. color, layers with some volume, flared out to the side, etc. then I definately think its doable. As long as you don't do it half-assed then I say go for it! We definately don't want to see that tired, lazy looking soccer mom hair-do. You just have to radiate baby! That's all we ask for.

Hair length or color is not a big issue with me. If she has the look I like then I am interested in getting to know her. I think if you want a change then you should do what you like and there will be men who will appreciate the new you. Don't change for someone else, change for you.

I don't have a preferance.

I can think of several great looking women with short hair.

It all depends on the woman. Everyone has hair styles that look good or bad on them. I don't have a preference between short and long, I just prefer they stick with what looks best on them. That of course is a matter of opinion.

Ultimately, I wouldn't worry about it. Do your 'do the way that makes you look/feel best.

Personally I think guys like women with long hair because they like to hold it while they bang them from behind :D

As for me I'll swing either way. If you get it cut then get it done by someone good, probably a gay man lol. Just think of people like Halle Berry or Keira Knightely mmmmmm

Same here.. I don't really care about hair on a girl.. I like short as well as long. Do whatever is more convenient for YOU. Don't worry about what guys are going to think. Im sure there are a lot of guys that don't mind.

do what you feel is right for yourself; you seem to have good reasons for wanting to cut it. of course you want to look good for your man and i'm sure you can find a good stylist who understands what would look HOT on you. most importantly, be with a guy (or find one) who'd fancy you either way.

I have really really short hair and it has never hindered me in getting attention from males and cute ones too. I guess it's your attitude or charisma that makes you the woman you are, or how attractive you feel and are perceived to be, not whether your hair is blonde, long, brunette or black (or even purple, lol, if you like that).

My ex of 17 years used to want me to have long hair in the beginning when we were much younger and I tried it (for him). However, I wasn't happy with it and neither was he! Even now that we are not a pair, he still loves my hair short and says I'm sexy with it because it just fits me perfectly and the whole package is just right the way it is.

I feel totally confident with the way my hair is. I used to think that woman with longer hair have more luck with men (when I was more insecure) but it's not true. All the males in my family tell me that as long as you radiate, glow, have that spark, whatever, lol, it just doesn't matter.

You need to do whatever you feel comfortable with. :)

Not many I know of....men like feminine women and short-haired women look like guys....

The other thing is that some men believe that women with short-hair are less patient than women with long hair. Mainly because long hair is very hard to take care of and one needs patience to maintain it. I personally believe this to be partially true.

Yup. If you want to maximise your chances with men, long hair it is. Some men don't care, but plenty do. So you reduce your options if you go "short".

Yeah, the next question is gonna be "what if I gained 40 pounds, wore dungarees and cultivated an angry attitude - are there men that would find this sexy?"

It's all in the cut, hon. If you go for it, make sure that you get a really savy stylist, because in a short cut, mistakes show. Be sure to get someone who will work with you to give you a really flattering, stylish cut. And be honest with them.

A short cut can actually emphasize your femininity. Yes, there's Halle Berry and company, but to go a bit further back, think of Demi Moore in Ghost. I was startled by how feminine the short hair made her look and the uniqueness of it. She really stood out.

As for it being less work, it's not necessarily so. Long hair can be less work if you pull it back into a ponytail or braid. You can get away with alot if your hair is long. Short hair can require alot more maintenance--more frequent cuts, daily washing and styling etc. Having had waist-length hair, very short hair and just about everything in between, I can verify this. The painful part of a short cut is when you decide to grow it out again.

Go get yourself some zing! I'm sure you will feel better for it. The thing is, if you get yourself a cut that looks great and makes you feel great about yourself that confidence will spill over. The guy who hooks up with you will be doing so because of you and not just because you have the right hair.

Iluvsiamese is right. The maintenance of short hair is often higher than that of long hair that you can just pull back. I wash, blowdry and style my VERY SHORT hair everyday. I think I have more patience than a saint but that has nothing to do with hair. LOL
