How many women consider it a deal-breaker if they go out on a date and the man is not wearing his seatbelt as he drives her to their destination? I have never worn a seatbelt except only when I know I will be in an area of high police presence such as before entering a Military base.

As a grown adult, you are quite capable of making your own decisions.

If you chose to break the law, that is certainly your choice. And, if we crash, you are thrown from the car, suffer a head injury, spinal cord injury, or lose your life... Well, who am I to tell you that you made a stupid decision. You will learn the consequences for yourself.

I have a feeling that this will only be one reason why I would not date you - I imagine that this kind of immaturity, arrogance, poor decision making, and irresponsibility will likely be evident in other ways too...

not wearing a belt shows irresponsibility, some chicks may dig that and some may not

Well not all states really enforce the seatbelt law. In my state drivers probably will not get pulled over for a seatbelt violation alone. They have to be committing some other traffic violation and the no seatbelt is treated as a tack on charge. That tells me that the cops are not inclined to make it a priority to enforce the law which I think should be done away with anyway. Cops don't have time to be going to traffic court and sitting there all day just to address seatbelt violations alone.

As far as learning a lesson in an accident. That's assuming I'm even still alive. As you said I may not even make it. Once I'm dead there's no opportunity to learn anything as I'm dead. We all gotta go sometime.

It's her business but I like for her to remain alive.

In my province, it is very much enforced. In fact, if a driver is caught texting it will soon be punishable by a $600 fine, a loss of 5 demerits on your drivers license (the same penalty as an accident where you are considered to be at fault), and loss of your drivers license for 24 hours. Enforcement is tough here.

If you want to be a cowboy, by all means... I have worked in the rehab hospital and I see people who do not die - those who are left permanently disabled with spinal cord injuries and head injuries that affect their ability to live independently and have good quality of life. If you want to roll the dice... Go right ahead.

I will. Because it is risky behavior for no reason. Or is there a reason that I am missing here?

I can understand the texting while driving having a severe penalty. That is far more dangerous than not wearing a seatbelt. If a driver is not paying attention to the road then wearing a seatbelt is a moot point.

It would definitely be a dealbreaker for me and quite a few women I know (we're all in the upper 20s, lower 30s). It's irresponsible. I personally would not want to risk your body flying off into me if you get hit from the side.

Good thing this stuff comes out early on in dating. I wouldn't want to marry a woman who is a fanatic about wearing seatbelts. It would drive me crazy. So we both break off early and happy. Well done.

Why do you even ask then? Do you want to hear women saying how awesome it is?

No. I want all this stuff to come out as early as possible so that I'm not wasting time and she's not wasting time. I don't want to get locked down in a marriage before finding out how fanatical my wife is about this stuff.

Indeed. Given, it's a small sample size here... but, the responses have been pretty unanimous. Your dating pool may be quite small if you insist on finding someone who shares your same opinion.
