Just curious, when was the last time you and her son actually smiled, had a fun/funny conversation, were silly together and shared laughs? It's one thing to be the tough step parent, it's a whole other to actually try to bond with him, ADD or not. Kids know when they aren't liked and just because you don't yell at him anymore doesn't mean anything. The damage has been done (meaning he doesn't trust you and won't feel vulnerable around you, or open because you ride him about so much).. Just saying, be open and kinder to him, spend fun time with him and hopefully he'll want to do more. Kids rebel to step parents. Show him love, please and thank you's after he does chores will go a long way..

We've gotten along better as of late, not back to 'the good old times' of a year or so back but to the point that we hang out together here or there.

The meds seem to be helping. Grades are shooting back up and the attitude isn't as prevalent lately.

Kid is probably lacking self confidence so keep that in mind. Think first before blowing up or reacting. As hard as it may be to do, you need to do this.

I hope he continues to get better.
