I have a massive z-i-t on the side of my nose. It's ****ing huge. It looks like the second coming of the Appalachian Mountains

I tend to get cysts on my face, so I can already tell this one is gonna last for a while (because it hurts so damn much).

But yeah, I have a date this Friday and one side of me is saying,

"honestly who cares" but the other side is like "Stay home bro."

I'm leaning towards "F it" and just go, but i'm not sure guys.

Any pimple tips would be nice as well :p

Go on youtube and see if you can find a video on safely lancing the zit.

There is a pimple cream that comes in a skin tone tint. Buy it. Use it to cover up the redness & inflammation.

Unless you are under the age of 17 don't cancel a date for a zit.

Hmmm...one time I went out with a guy who had a few zits around his nose and it did turn me off but that's because I wasn't 100% into the guy to begin with. If I was, I probably wouldn't have been bothered by it. But I probably still wouldn't have kissed him :lmao:

Try warm compresses to the cyst. 15 minutes 3 times a day. Wet a wash cloth in warm water and hold it directly to the cyst. That will reduce the inflammation aka swelling. One of my patients gets warm compresses to her cysts and it works really well. Try it.

Good luck :)

Hey OP. Firstly, keep calm. You’ll be fine. And the pimple isn’t the end all be all. Especially if you’ve both hun out before in other social settings of some sort.

HOWEVER......I’m going to keep it real ....if this is the FIRST date, and it’s not too close to the date I would cancel. WHY? Because you both are going to be noticing so many details about each other. And unless you’re truly comfortable, your discomfort will come across in some way and may appear insecure which you don’t want.

Posted

Additionally when you mess with zits too much you make them worse. And you’ll be super red or purple by the time of the date. Zits heal best with time.... TOOTHPASTE works thought just FYI! But you need a few days.

If this is a date with someone you don't know well yet and it's going to make you feel self conscious and uncomfortable then cancel. Just be sure to immediately lock down another date and time so she doesn't think you are blowing her off.

Have you spoken with your GP about the cysts? It could be time to up the ante on your treatment regime. Antibiotics or prescription medication may be the way to go.

If you have cystic acne, go see a dermatologist to get on a proper treatment regiment

Cystic acne is painful and can lead to infection and scarring

In principle, I don't think you should cancel a date on account of a pimple.

The fact is you date as you area ... and if you and the other person can't work with how you are, there's a problem.

On the other hand, I can imagine getting terrified and self-conscious so much so that I would feel like canceling the date.

A compromise. Follow some of the tips on the site ... and use a bandage if you have to ... but tell her ahead of time of the cut and the awkward bandaid ... Or ... get to this early on in the date ... Practice talking if you have to ... You want a relaxed tone ... not apologizing ... not feeling guilty or shamed ...

Again the problem with putting it off ... is the same as the problem of "maybe I should lose 5 pounds" before meeting someone, etc. You go down that road and you never come back.

You need to learn makeup. Keep it clean and put alcohol on it to try to dry it up. The night of, you need to go get a tube of concealer in the makeup section at the drugstore. Have a clerk help you find one that is one shade darker than your skin. Buy a compact of sheer powder in color translucent. You'll also need something like a foam-tip q-tip or a small makeup brush (ask the clerk which one for blending concealer).

Carefully dot a little of the concealer right onto the pimple. With the brush or foam LIGHTLY, without touching the pimple, blend the concealer outward all around the pimple to where it blends in with your complexion. Next lightly powder over that area. Not enough to get cakey. This should minimize it. Putting the darker color in the middle gives an optical illusion of it being recessed area rather than a raised area.

Pimples and how people deal with them, it's highly individual. Some people might be grossed out, but anyone who's ever had one understands -- and most of us have had a couple.

Oil of oregano works pretty well to dry up a cold sore if I feel one coming on. It may just work for pimples too.

It's Thursday night where I am. The OP posted hours ago on Thursday for a date on Friday.

I would probably not notice my date had a zit. But if some guy cancelled a Friday night date with me, early on especially 1st or 2nd date, I probably would not give him another chance. I'd assume he got a better offer which would piss me off that he thought of me as disposable. Since I didn't know him that well even the truthful explanation that he had a pimple would make me think he's lying to me because what kind of twit cancels a date for such a stupid superficial reason so I'd assume he got a better offer or if I believed him I wouldn't date him because I would think he thought I was a superficial B1tch who only cared about looks & then I'd be insulted that he thought I was so shallow.

jjb117 -- the zit is meaningless! Your reaction to it defines your character or your date's. Somebody who reacts negatively to a freakin' pimple is not somebody you want to date long term.

Guess I'm posting this a little late at night but you should get some benzoyl peroxide (it's OTC from any drug store or big box discount store) if you're not going to go to a dermatologist. If you put it on tonight it may bring the swelling down a little. If you buy the one that's skin toned it will work to both dry up the zit and to cover it up. And from now on put it on right away as soon as you feel a zit coming on.

If you're getting a lot of zits, why not go to a dermatologist? There are many things they can do to help you get your complexion cleared up.

Benzoyl Peroxide! That was the active ingredient in Oxy 10! Who remembers that mess?!? Or am I that old that I still remember when there was music still on MTV instead of reality shows and all that celebrity garbage.

Go.. use some flesh colored acne cream and a bandaid..

If you hit it off maybe she will pop your zits for you like many girls like to

Go watch some DR. Pimple Popper!

I started using Benzoyl Peroxide about two years ago.

Amazing stuff. And yeah, I actually remember commercials from an earlier time than MTV. They were all over Rock and Pop radio in the 1970s.

If you are stuck with no product, use good ol' paste toothpaste in a pinch.

Put some on before bed and it will dry it out and stop it from festering.

If this is a recurring issue, I highly recommend seeing a dermatologist. S/he can prescribe you something that's going to help you better than any over the counter creams.

And whatever you do, don't do this:
