JadeStar Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Not sure if thats the right way to spell it or not, oh well. Anyway is being a hypercondriac like OCD(Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)? I know what a hypercondriac is, but just wondering if its along the lines of OCD as well. I have noticed that over the past few months, my husband is always concerned about anything that pops up on his body. Anything from a pimple, to a sore place in his mouth where he has bitten his cheek or something. Everytime something pops up, hes looking at in the the mirror for a bit. Then will call me in there and ask me, "What does this look like to you?" I'll tell him, and he will say, "yeah thats what I was thinking it was." Just last night he asked me to look at the back of his neck and wanted to know what it was that he felt when he would rub his hand across it. I told him, looked like a zit to me that maybe he had scratched and it scabed over. (Not trying to sound gross) Anyway just noticed its been alot here lately, and it makes me wonder if its part of an OCD thing. Hes not a hypercondriac about many things, basically just anything that has to do with things on his body. Jade
Outcast Posted September 7, 2005 Posted September 7, 2005 Why would you wonder if it's like OCD? It's an obsession, yes. But OCD usually involves more than one obsession and can also involve compulsions.

I think he has some OCD tendencies anyway, simply because most of the time things are done in extreme. Maybe him always wondering what has come up on his body is like going to the exteme of worrying about things too.I'll catch him looking his body over in the bathroom, like his looking for something. Then when he comes across something he will point it out, ask what it is, then say yeah thats what he thought it was. Even a little pimple, he will say "does that look like a pimple or you think its something else?" Its kind of hard to explain I guess. Its like he can't believe he has something like s pimple that we all get from time to time without him thinking its something worse. Jade
