If you go on a date and find you don't really do anything the same in your free time, or have much common interests , well then what ?

How many people would keep going just in the hope of sex ?

I never dated and don't have mainstream interests, like most people. Oh boy, just something else to worry about.

I wish I could go on practice dates, with girls that are guidance consulers or whatever. I suppose real dates are the best way, but most people start young, not at my age.

the more a couple has in common the greater their chances of success

I think it would be hard to find someone who didn't at least like some movies you like or some tv you like, but not everything you like. Then if you thought you might like each other, you could always suggest trying something new together, like bowling or renting scooters or bicycles or whatever and build some memories. It's not impossible. If you like each other, you should both be willing to try new things together.

I always thought people who go to the same college, have the same group of friends, will most likely keep dating.
