Snotty Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 i am dating this girl. Her son is a pothead. He just lost his job, too many times getting to work late. She is always up his ass about smoking Yet..... she uses edibles, and she takes edibles to her other son. I am loosing my mind over this hypocrysy. She seems to think this is ok. I dont. Thc is thc, regardless of how it is consumed. Thoughts... opinions?
Gaeta Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 I don't want potheads in my life so I don't date them. It's that simple. 1

You date to figure out if someone is compatible - life values, boundaries, morals, etc. This is either a dealbreaker or it isn't and if so, then continue. If you can't accept it, move on. 2
carhill Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 I avoid it, partly due to insufficient interest and partly due to federal law regarding cannabis impacting my legal firearms ownership. Up to you. Where it is permitted by state law, it then becomes a personal question. Do you want to date someone who uses MJ? It's the same as dating someone who routinely drinks. It's a personal choice and preference. Regarding the apparent hypocrisy, that's time-honored. Parents grabbing a couple drinks from the bar after work every day yet browbeating their children regarding the scourge of drinking. Do as I say, not as I do because, well, I'm the adult and parent. heh. 1
kendahke Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 How old is this son? Is it legal in the state? If you dont' like weed, then this woman isn't the woman to be with. Not a hard problem here at all--dump her and move on to someone to doesn't get high. 1
smackie9 Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 it's only an issue if it becomes one. He has a problem, he lost his job due to smoking too much, no different than someone who has a drinking problem. When it starts to interfere with your life, you need to cut it out. If she can enjoy a stone, but still get up in the morning and be responsible, then it's a non issue. There is no hypocrisy. Now if she was laying around all day collecting a welfare check getting stoned on brownies, then ya you have a case there.
Mrin Posted August 20, 2018 Posted August 20, 2018 As somebody from state where it is legal I would urge you to consider swapping the words edibles and smoking pot with beer and wine. I think if you focus on the behaviors and not the substance you'll see where it isn't hypocritical. First son is letting it negatively affect his life just like getting drunk can do that. if it isn't negatively impacting her life or the life of her second son then you can see where she's coming from.
